Ring of Blades +1 drop glitch?!

It was a close battle between the Pursuer and I in the arena which once housed the Smelter Demon; I was using weapons infused with poison. Near the end of our fight, I managed to poison the Pursuer once again; this was where I got sloppy. The Pursuer cut me down with an unexpected combo, then succombed to my poisoning. I did not get souls for defeating him, but I saw the Ring of Blades +1 drop. Respawning at the bonfire upstairs, I went back down to find that the ring had disappeared. It was not in my inventory either.

So is there a way to get my ring back, or am I going to have to burn a bonfire ascetic or wait until NG+?

I'd go for Ring of Blades +2 which can be aquired NG with a bonfire ascetic.
