Aava the king's pet, tips ?

Hi guys, I've been playing for 76 hours now, it is my first soul game ( or release from this developper ) I ever played ( i bought dark soul 1 to play later though ), and I've NEVER checked only for a boss, I did all of them fairly easily, maybe 3 try at most. But this time, I can't beat the boss ... the pet's cat is too smart for me I guess ?

I've been trying to do this boss for 6 hours ... I used ALL the human effigy i had ( 30 something ), I had 50 + gems and 500 + arrows for each encounters ... I even took NPCs ( masterless dude and the fire mage ) and/or players when I wasn't hollow ... I can't do it ...

I tried everything, when he use his paw attack, I roll under him and hit him once, than shield up and wait for his next attk, but I make a mistake at some point and he smash my guard in 1 hit, I use the shield the heide tower warriors have and my weapon is a heide sword +10 / dragon slayer spear +5 and or heide spear +10. I tried using a fire longsword +10 with no success too.

So what I've understood so far:
Paw attack -> roll under him
''freezing roar'' -> Move aside
Ice spear -> stand next to him
Jump foward and bite -> roll backward or to the side

I just can't seem to be him, I'm in a normal game, bonfire 1, I use vendrick's armor and I'm lvl 150 ( 32 vitality, 23 stamina, 15 adptability, 37 strenght ... ) I can barely block twice before I'm unstable from his hits, could anyone please tell me some tips on how to beat him ( he,s in the ivory king DLC ).

You seem to know the mechanics. I would focus on rolling instead of tanking those hits. As with any boss dont get greedy 1 or 2 hits most and let your stam regen. Also there is a shrine above the last bonfire in Shrine of Amana, and if you saved all of the Melfinito you can restore your humanity for free if you have zero effigies.

Hardwork got it, after abour 40 tries I finally killed him ( with the help of a pyromancer player summon and the masterless NPC ahah ), this DLC is way harder than what I experienced in the game / other dlc

Have you given pure physical a go? The DLC bosses should be resistant to elementals. I know for sure that the pets are weaker to fire but I'm not sure if using fire infused is a good idea when you have physical. Slash works well. Probably better to fire resin.

I use heide spear +10, heide sword +10, dragonslayer spear +5 and dragonrider bow +5 as weapons

Don't use a shield. For a boss like that two hand your weapon and dodge has attacks by rolling. And as Мандалор said don't get greeedy, just get one or two (at the most) strikes in when you get chance. I used to just use a shield but have recently switched to no shield and it is actually much more affective. It might take you a few more deaths to get used to when to roll but you'll get it. Wait till you get to fight two of those at once! Great fun...not.

i think this boss is just waiting for luck... 3 days, and i cant kill him, when i can, some weird dodge bug come and i will die. like now, i dodge his grab, i am out and it teleport me to his mouth... or sometimes dodge fail, its like he hit me with back legs. i hate him so so so so so much

hmm I used the NPC's as cannon fodder (or Pet Fodder in this case :D ) while I kept firing everything I had (as a battle-mage) by the time NPC's were dead, it was just a matter of dodging a few more attacks before it could be killed.

Another tip/trick, if you die alot at a certain area, see if you cant go somewhere else, usually helps me when Im stuck somewhere.
Then when I come back, its like I passively thought out a good strategy and then... Victory! :D

Heide sword is weak weapon, especially if you are that far in your playthrough.. Besides, I think everything in Eleum Loyce is resistant to lighting, not completely but a lot. You´d better get some serious weapon and buy charcoal pine resins from Magerold, fire attack does a ton of damage to everything in the area.
