Can't decide between two armor sets...
Vengarl's Set [darksouls2.wiki.fextralife.com]

or

Velstadt's Set [darksouls2.wiki.fextralife.com]

They are pretty much the same when it comes to weight, psy. def., and poise

Velstad has good Dark def (good in pvp) and provides some protection for petrification and curse (pve)

Vengarl's looks better (fashion <3), and has higher def. for Lightning, Fire, and Magic (pvp).

I may be splitting hairs here, but its a lot of Twinkling titinite to upgrade, figured it wouldn't hurt to get some other opinions before I did.

In my opinion it just suits better to keep both armor sets on your person and switch between the two either for whenever you want to or for whenever you need to however if you have to have only one i'd suggest Velstadt's

In Fashion Souls, I'd go with Vengarl's. I can't stand Velstadt.

Stats don't matter. Only fashion matters.

If you have the Iron King DLC, I would vote against Velstadt set. His helmet causes some... interesting things to occur, in one of the boss fights.

Have you tried mixing parts from Vengarl and Velstadt sets to see if you like a mix? Maybe your inner Fasion Souls lover would prefer a combo of the two.

Not sure about the circlejerk bit, but I think the Fasion Souls concept is tied in with the fact that the defenses for heavy armor are not always worth it.

The ultimate defense is being able to Roll and Parry incoming attacks. If you are skilled at these, you don't need the defense stats from armor, so your armor choices will either be based off of looks, or off of what is more useful in some other way... Maybe even a combo of the two.

If by circlejerk you meant stuff like...

...that, then that is an end result of someone realizing that the best defense if Roll and Parry, and thus giving advice based off that, but not mentioning why.

My comment is an opinion based off of what I prefer. Not what I'm told to prefer or should prefer. I don't have to share a wealth of information in paperback form to share my simple opinion. Circlejerk be damned.

To add to ShinkuTear's excellent post, attack evasion is definitely the most important 'stat' for PvP and PvE. Next is weight. Combine what you like, look how you like, play how you like.

Gl with 0 poise(especially against poketowin weapons)
I vote for the vengarl set with the veltstadt helmet, it looks like a giant cookie scoop you sometimes get with ice creams :P

I care about stats becuase, in PvP at least, i'm not good enough at dodging to escape all blows from the all the different weapons/spells your up against. Need poise, need to be able to soak 3 or 4 hits at least.

I don't like to mix due to a bit of OCD bugging me more then the look of any set, though some are ugly.

I was planning on the Steel Set, then realized the Vengarl's I had on was better in stats then I realized. But Vengarl's was right next to Velstadt's on the wiki, and I clicked out of curiosity, and then I couldn't decide.

Sorry for the TL;DR, I think ill go with Vengarl's, just becuase it looks better and the stats are good.

Just go naked if you don't care about fashion statements. The armor only helps so much.
