Why do people complain about R1 spam?

I've killed lots of people by hyper-tapping my R1 button and often times they complain about it in hate-mail to me.

I'm not one of those mindless button-smashers though. The thing is, if you're rolling around me and it's very easy for me to hit you mid-roll, you can bet your ass I'm gonna spam that button until you learn to stop rolling around me.

Like seriously literally every instance where R1 is effective is because you were too stupid, or too slow to roll away from, block, or parry it.

I mean am I really expected to just stop attacking someone when I have a valid chance to take their health down? If you roll away when I start tapping my R1 button I'm going to stop tapping it, simple as that. If you don't roll away and give me prime opportunities to spam that button on your ass I'm going to do it, like seriously why wouldn't I take those free hits on you? Because some imaginary code of honor says I should stop hitting you?

TL-DR: Stop ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about R1 spam, if you get hit by it, it's your own damn fault.

Pretty much what I'm getting from that. Also since my pve/pvp build uses pyro, havels gaunlets, a +10 dagger for backstabing/reposting, and since I'm not the only one in my hosue useing the internet during the day I guess I'm a try hard. Oh and I tutle behind my great shield waiting for an opening, and then abuse said opening. Also if we throw in that bs weapon tier list then my main, alt and back weapons are all medium teir-low tier. and since you didn't catch on last time Erbus let me add this tag for you pal {Sarcasm}

He's not original, there are literally dozens of players like him out there. the (sorta) scary part is that you or i could easily fall into the trap he did and sound EXACTLY LIKE HIM.

Oh trust me I know I use to get tons of hate mail for using toxic mist and poison mist in pvp in Dks1 Sorry am I not supposed to use the spells my build are based on?

The fact that you are using any of it makes you immediately a scrub casual who is ♥♥♥♥ at every game ever and doesn't deserve dark souls.

PLent of people make builds that rely on many of the things in your short list (short of a bad connection because you can't control that espically if you have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ comcast who throttle you connection speed and then lie about it) fact is if it wasn't meant to be used in pvp or in the game in general it would have been removed.

meh, i used to run around the belfries in full jesters using powerstanced poison daggers, toxic mist, poison mist, and acid surge.

Well I suppose therein is some of my complaints, I don't think some of these crutches should be in the game (at least as they are). Things like Jesters have no real drawbacks. The fact all these poorly balanced items and mechanics can be stacked together with few if any drawbacks, just makes for a lot of samey unfun PVP (after the 50th or whatever time of facing the same build relying on the same mechanics it gets really tiring). I realize and am glad the game is balanced around PVE, but some things really should be changed.
