Dragonslayer crescent axe, +7 heides knight sword, black knight halberd?
Which weapon should I use? I can use a soul vessel to change my stats. I'm not a dex build so black knight halberd has too much dex for me at the moment but i'd go dex anyway if it's a good weapon. I already have a light armor dodge build, just been using heides knight sword.

Anyways, which one of these weapons is worth my time?

Currently, +7 Heides Knight Sword. Knights armor except falconers chest +4.

Dragonslayer crescent axe looks sick since you can double infuse it with lightning. Black knight halberd looks pretty sick but i'd have to switch to a dex build.

Just beat the scorpion chick. 28 strength highest stat. 18 adaptability.

BKH isn't as good as it used to be in DS1 but of those I would definitely go with it. I don't think axes in general are very good in DS2, they are obviously viable but if you consider efficiency more important than looks then Black Knight Halberd is the best of the three. You can keep Heide sword as backup, no reason to throw away a +7.

Assuming you're on your first playthrough, you should know that there are quite a few of both Soul Vessels and upgrade materials in the game so ultimately it doesn't matter what build or weapon you use, you can easily upgrade all three to max power and change builds several times over the course of a single playthrough.

Upgrade materials are particularly plentiful if you have the first DLC, Crown of Sunken King. It allows you to infinitely farm 100% guarantee drops of 3 Twinkiling Titanite and 3 Petrified Dragon Bones, both of which are used to upgrade some of the most powerful weapons in the game. Regular Titanite is likewise plentiful and you are not going to run out of upgrade materials.

is there a weapon other than bkh coming up that i should focus on? I don't want to make the switch to it, since i have to completely redo my build if it's just an "ok" weapon since heides knight sword has got me this far. I'm trying to avoid greatswords and pretty much anything slow and annoying in general.

Maybe i should just go a dex build then. Lol.

Dragonslayer Crescent Axe isn't much of an improvement from the Heide Knight Sword, it is slower and uses more stamina, plus it needs twinkling titanite to upgrade. Black Knight Halberd needs twinkling too, but it can do quite a lot of damage, you'll have to hit with the blade "hit the sweetspot". It uses the halberd moveset, if you are okay with that kind of weapon, I would try to get a Mastodon Halberd from the elephant guys, not sure if they drop from the ones in Doors of Pharros (the level after the scorpioness), but that weapon is good for a STR focused char like yours.

Any weapon in the game is viable in the end. If you want to use the axe then by all means, you will be able to complete the game with it. It's just that axes in general have pretty poor range and sub-par movesets, whereas BKH is long, deals good damage and has a decent moveset for PvE.

That aside, if you want a good, easy weapon I can recommend the Claymore. You can buy it from Vengarl in the foggy part of Shaded Woods. It's a quality weapon (scales off both Str and Dex) and is one of the most popular weapons used by people. It has a good moveset too, R1s are wide swings and R2s are thrust attacks, a very solid setup.

do you mean the mastodon greatsword or mastodon halberd I should be using?

Sorry, missed your post, it was the halberd I was talking about. Use whatever you like, of course, if you like the halberd moveset then the mastodon halberd is great.
