DARK SOULS™ II

Highest magic resist (all elements) armour
Anyone know the best possible elemental resist armour available? Not neccesarily set; like, the best possible combination

no idea, i do know people have said that Smelter will give you the most combined physical + fire total.

Dark set gives pretty good dark D from my experience
I know vesdalts is better than dark set; not really interested in physical defense either with the buff meta that is pvp right now
i think the Singers dress had high magic resist. but I may be wrong
Until they come out with a character armor calculator similar to DS1, and make poise useful again. Most people like myself are just gonna play fashion souls
thats what ive been doing, but if i do this right, i could have more 'defense' technically than the highest physical build; due to the fact tat everyone infusestheir weapons and buffs for the most part
If you want elemental defenses, go for light armor/clothing. I think Hexer's, Saint's, Black and Chaos sets all have good elemental defenses, each specialized against a particular element;

Saint's = Lightning
Hexer's = Fire
Black = Magic
Chaos = Dark & Fire

There are some heavier armor sets that have decent elemental defenses, but most of the time they only excel in physical defense.

I think the OP is interested in specific non-set items or specific set pieces, Which usually can have higher than normal stats for "best in slot" means
It's lighter to carry shields infused with their respective elements for 100% reduction than to wear full Havel's.

100% Dark: http://darksouls2.wiki.fextralife.com/Transgressor's+Leather+Shield
100% Lightning: http://darksouls2.wiki.fextralife.com/Watcher%27s+Shield
100% Magic: http://darksouls2.wiki.fextralife.com/Magic+Shield (i.e. Magic Magic Shield)
100% Fire: http://darksouls2.wiki.fextralife.com/Gyrm+Greatshield (sadly, I think this is the lightest shield with 100% fire reduction)

you can always get the shield out of the Basilisk Fire pit and infuse it in any direction also

I went ahead and calculated highest possible total elemental resistance (m+f+l+d) you can get. Used an .xls document with all (probably all) armors. Here is the result:

Warlock Mask+10
Black Witch Robe+5
Black Witch Gloves+5
Hexer's Boots +5

Total element defense:

Magic: 312 Fire: 264 Lightning: 276 Dark: 331

With a set like that you will have low physical defense - comparable to elemental defenses, next to no poise - if it means anything, some bonuses like the int bonus from Warlock Mask and very low weight. Also it will probably look very dumb.

To be fair, once you reach NG++++ or so, if you get hit by a hard hitting mob you're dead anyways.

This is exactly what I wanted, thank you very much.

How did you calculate this, any spreadsheet source, or did you just do it yourself? If so, awesome job.

Thanks to everyone else who helped as well.

I'd really recommend switching the Warlock Mask with Chaos Hood.

Less overall resistances (you'll get more Dark res and less everything else), but +1 Spell Cast is godly.
