Dark Fog Vs Toxic Mist
I can cast both spells and what I've noticed is...

Dark Fog casts faster and builds poison faster. Has 1 more use than Toxic Mist.

Toxic Mist deals more damage at the exchange of having a slower cast and one less use. Only occupies 1 spell slot.

That's what I observed, and it's likely to be wrong.
Anyone has any more info on it?

Do the spells scale with your stats and stuff, or it's just based on its own damage output.

Not to mention the Bat Staff makes Dark Fog more potent because it boosts the poison to build faster, almost instant.

"more potent" Bat staff puts your dark fog on steroids. if you can get a Sentinel boss to sit in 3 full poison cloud durations then you can sometimes apply poison. A bat staff + dark fog will apply poison to a Sentinel in under 1 second

Dark Fog scales total damage with your DarkBNS, Toxic Mist scales total damage with your PoisonBNS. Dark fog can be cast farther away.
They do not stack with each other. They also do not appear to stack with any poison weapon damage.

Just out of mischievous interest, they can't be stacked, right? :P

Personally I use Dark Fog more because Toxic is riskier - shorter range + longer casting time = Ugh. It's a nice option though for pure melee chars.

in dark souls 1 they COULD be stacked, however poison was a long-lasting effect with trivial damage which has since been boosted a lot.

I would assume the 2 effects would STILL stack but I havent done any testing of it.

Poison doest 15 damage per tick, Toxic does 25 per. Not sure if they tick at the same rate.

Getting reaaaaaaalllll tired of Dark Fog + Bat Staff..

Does the Bat Staff effect Poison/Toxic Mist, or is it some type of bug that allows it to effect just Dark Fog?
Sunshine May 18, 2014 @ 11:29pm
bat staff modifies poison based hex spells

Dark fog is the ONLY poison based hex spell in game

the 2 mist spells are pyromancies
droe50 May 18, 2014 @ 11:31pm
... Oh right, completely forgot you can't freaking cast a pyromancy with a staff. Because DERP.

Man, too bad the Dark Pyro flame doesn't have a similar effect, then people might actually be tempted to use it for something.

I think I read somewhere that the Poison in DS 2 is the same thing as Toxic in DS 1.
And well... I've a hundred of hours ingame and didn't see the Toxic effect yet.

Toxic is basicly like poison except twice faster.

You can get toxic'd from the rats in the Royal Rat Authority boss. Pretty sure that's about it as the Vanguard only poisons you (though I could be wrong).

Oh right, now that you mention it I remember getting killed in an instant when the boss rat attacked me, but it was so fast I think I didn't pay enough attention.
