Can NPC aggro be removed?
I attacked Manscorpion Tark from afar thinking he was an enemy because, well, he's a big ♥♥♥♥ing manscorpion...
When he tried to talk to me (...!) I stopped attacking and looked up who he was.

I want to make him "friendly" again so I can talk to him properly.
I've researched it a bit and figured out how to communicate with dead NPCs, but in this case he's not dead yet, he's just trying to kill me lol.
Can I remove his aggro somehow? Or do I have to kill him now..?

I just have to question this whole game mechanic...
Why can we kill NPCs? I understand that some people like it, and that they can argue that it "adds freedom to the game", but what's the point of it for those of us who don't want to?
I can't tell you how many times I've accidentally attacked NPCs during conversations thanks to how the mouse is SOMETIMES locked from using weapons, and SOMETIMES is used for the conversations... It scares the crap out of me every time, and thankfully I've learned exactly when I should and shouldn't "skip" with the mouse now.

Why can't there be a ring or something that specifically let's you attack friendly targets? Then everyone who wants to kill NPCs are allowed to, but those of us who don't want to never have to risk ridiculous situations like the one I'm in now...

there is a chappel, where you need to fight a lot of undeads, and afterwards on the left side, there is a ladder where you can go to a priest of some sort and there you can repay your sins done to npc´s, btw the cost to do that is: 1k * soul level

You CAN remove their aggro if you attack them accidentally, it just costs a hell of a lot. If you are level 100 it will cost 100k souls.

If you are afraid of attacking NPCs then switch out from your sword when talking to them. But generally, I like the idea. It fits in with the idea of some NPCs being untrustworthy. Anyone "could" be your enemy so it's only natural that you can attack them all.

NPCs will only aggro if you do enough tdamage to them, you can hit most a couple times without making them try and fight you, accidently attacked the hag a few times when trying out weapons, its not auto aggro I don't think.

The amount of aggro an NPC can take has been reduced to half HP in this game, so it is a lot more than in Dark Souls when they got aggroed from one or two hits (like 75% HP or so).

You can go see Cromwell the pardoner at the church in Brightstone Cove Tseldora. It's expensive and a little bit past the location you're currently in. Or, just kill Manscorpion Turk, he drops the ring which he would give you latter on if you don't kill him. Then leave the area for a while. When you come back there will be a grave stone where Turk used to be. Pray at the grave stone for about 2400 souls to get all of his dialog. Much cheaper than getting pardoned.
We must never forget our sins...

Just kill him he drops a good ring and hes useless as a summon...

You think they are just going to remove the part that gives you the ability to kill npcs just for the people who don't want to?

Only time when I really, really hated that NPC's keep trying to kill you - if you haven't been pardoned - is that when Agdayne and his b!tches aggro immediatly, if you forget to kill the torch hollow friend that happily follows you around.

Why they slap you down? Why not to kill the torch wielder instead (to show the "slow players" that this will happen if you light the torch)?

Not at all. Did you see what I wrote about the ring?
That might not be the best idea ever, but something like that.
I would shut it off completely if I could.

Still a stupid idea.

Well, in my opinion, allowing a game to get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up (even though there are ways to somewhat fix it later) by allowing NPC to be killed, is ridiculously stupid.

And the fact that this game is going so extremely hard with it's "learning by doing" attitude that even the simplest of game mechanics can be completely misunderstood, depending on how players are first introduced to them, doesn't make any sense to me.
I was having a lot of fun learning everything at first, but eventually it just got ridiculous to me that almost NOTHING is explained.

My point is that in my opinion the devs fail when the player can walk into a room, see a big scary scorpion man, and mistake it for a miniboss without even geing corrected when attacking it.

Trust me when I say that when I was searching for a solution to this online, I found countless of posts from people who have played through the entire game and first THEN, while reading the forum, realized that this was a friendly NPC.

You'll never get "♥♥♥♥♥♥ up" because you kill an npc. Not one of them is completely necessary to win the game. Even if it were, you can revive them with a tombstone.
