What's the difference between Parrying Dagger and Buckler?
I've noticed the buckler most definitely helps out with parrying, seems to just make the parry window itself longer, but what of the Parrying Dagger? Traditionally dating back to DeS, the Parrying Dagger has always granted a long window of time to parry with, and so has the Buckler.

But it would seem, based on how the parry animation looks, that the Parrying Dagger doesn't increase the window of time you have to parry with but rather shortens the start up window, or removes it altogether. I've yet to parry with the dagger itself, but I'm still curious of this question.

Just go Monestary Scimitar, it has instant parry frames so almost all weapons can be parried via reaction.

Buckler has a longer parry frame, Parry dagger has a quicker parry frame.
and the scimitar has an instant parry but shortest parry frame.
Also it's bad for reaction unless you've mastered timing, as the frames will end before you get hit and in pvp it's so easy to bait that parry and have a huge open window to own

How can you have a parry frame quicker than instant?

I've never managed to parry with bucklers, target shields etc. that have "special" parry animation, or even with weapons. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. D: It didn't work in DeS or DkS and it hasn't worked in DkS2 either!

Guess I just suck.

Parrying with other shields work just fine though.

Quicker than shields, but not as fast as the scimitar but longer window than the scimitar at the cost of the small delay compaired to scimitar.

I don't understand this kind of design. Let's make a weapon that has instant parry, now players that like parrying are all using Monastery Scimitar. Lets make a staff that boosts dark fog, now half of the players are using that staff and dark fog on pvp. Lets make buffs but make 1 buff stronger than others. Really really bad design.

Yes, dark souls is maybe the worst balanced series i ever saw when it comes to pvp.
But pvp was never main feature of dark souls.

Monastery Scimitar seems like an interesting choice for pure parrying, but I like the style that the parrying dagger gives, and I don't need the most OP items to play.

No offense, but if he's comparing the parry dagger and the buckler he's probably still at NG.

He could use red rust scimmitar for time being, it has same parry animation and its actualy useful for other things than just parrying unlike monastery *dagger*.

I deleted all NG+ characters and started anew for Online Mode (previously played in Offline Mode only).
