Which armor is worth upgrading in your opinion?
So I'm playing around in ng+ at the moment, but haven't updated an armor in any of my playthroughs so far. Mainly because it didn't seem necessary and also because the sheer amount of equipment is so overwhelming. What armors did you guys update, which ones are worth keeping through ng++ and beyond?

Armor is so worthless from what I've seen now that it's better to just use it based off of looks, or special properties.
depends on your build, for casters you want lion mage set for cast speed, for pyros you want penal cuffs, for melee you can go havel or some medium armor (vengarl) to have better rolling and more weapons. Jester shirt is awesome in pvp as it prevents you from being backstabbed., and it has a LOT of elemental resistance (at +10 it has about 50% more elemental resist than havel +5)
For looks I like catarina set or visible aurora set, but those are a pain in the arse to farm so.

There is no armor that is "worth" upgrading except the one you think looks the coolest. Upgrading will give negligible benefits.
While I acknowledge that I stated earlier "Armor is irrelevant", the difference of a lot of Medium/Heavy Armor sets from +0 to +5/10 (depending on upgrade material used) is very noticable. Just not on the lighter armor sets.

Agreed, upgrading doesn't improve the special effects on gears and sometimes it does consume a lot of 'nites. Spend 'nites on weapons first to max out damage. Upgrade armor only if you have them spare 'nites sitting around. (Not including havels, upgrading that actually did make a difference)

Use the armor that you like just dont be a 'havelin' noob..
Too bad that most of the good stuff looks pretty awful (Lion mage robes and hexer's set for example, penal mask for extra weight, cuffs etc.). Not that I really care about stats, I always go with the nice looking gear.

My faith build uses Saint's set and after having like +50 twinkling titanite and no idea where to spend them, I used them on the armor. Haven't noticed any difference really, expect on elemental defences (which are already high on that armor), which work slightly differently compared to physical defence (1 point = 0,1% resistance).

I'm quite partial to Elite Knight and Heide sets; they both have good stats for their weight and look excellent. If you don't mind the lack of any poise at all, Llewellyn is also great.

No point in going medium armours that are light as NG+ or late game, 200-300 defence helps so little it isnt even noticable. Either go all in havel or go nude with a shield/dodge

Havel + sheild is stupid really if you can't use the shield effectivily (2 handing at the needed times) then why use it?
Why wear heavy armour that wont be used when you can block everything?
Dodge/Shield or armour only need one.

Is it just me, or does poise not doing anything? I got stun locked all the time by getting hit with katanas while having 125+ poise. Right now I'm just running jester shirt for the no backstab.
Damage taken while idle does 3x as much damage to your Poise as damage taken while in an attack animation. Poise also takes 16 - 20 seconds to regenerate, and rolling attacks will always stagger you. It's also very rare to take 2+ hits in succession without staggering.

Poise now reduces stunned duration, how much "ds1 poise" you have is dependant on your armour type + if its a boss armour or not.
But yeah pointless.
