Is the Ornstein Spear any good?

I'm playing as a cleric for this run. (Lightning spears ae awesome, but otherwise I feel a tad pathetic.) I'm looking for a good weapon for a faith build.

I made the questionable decision to run straight for Ornifex and get the Dragonslayer Spear. The spear and its special attack to pathetic damage.

What do you guys think about the Dragonslayer Spear? And what might make a good alternative for a lightning/faith weapon?

I currently use a Lightning Murakumo/Curved Dragon Greatsword. Great damage, okay moveset.

Have never used spears before so can't really comment, I just find them terribly underwhelming in PvP cos it's just so easy to sidestep them.

your better off without it, there are much better spears in the game, which you can easily turn into a lightning spear

For faith build a nice thing to have is Defender's greatsword. It has high lightning scale, self-buffs with extra lightning, and also looks quite nice. Problem is that you probably need to wait for long to get it, as you need to give ornifex one of the last bosses' soul to get this one. Before that, Black knight Halberd is awesome. It's found in shaded woods, has high phys+fire att, not bad moveset and stuff. Yes, it's not lightning, but good damage for faith-based anyway.

I am currently using the Thorned greastword and been using it through the entire ng+ playthrough.I haven't tested if there are better options out there
