Nah, it also has elements from Demon's. And King's Field. And so on and so forth. It is a mishmash of elements from everything FROM's done with similar themes. Maybe even Shadow Tower but I have not tried that. It mixes, expands, and builds upon them.
Both which have different uses and rewards. As well as the small one being a faster way to get back, and a very good option for exploration.
Mmhmm. Which again, Dark 1 expanded from Demon's, which was miracles and soul arts/sorceries.
Right out of Demon's, actually.
And they work completely differently from each other!
So, expanding over things that were already expanded once is being creatively bankrupt now? Eh.
Former, kind of agree. The bosses are meh for the most part (with exceptions, of course, the chariot is a pretty different thing from ANYTHING in the series thus far), but I disagree with the fluff text being bad on the soul items.
... Minotaurs? Don't you mean lion men?
The texture tiling IS pretty bad there, though. I agree.
Which could've as easily been said about Dark, coming from Demon's. It expands, it mixes, it tries.
It fails at several things it tries, but that does not make it "uninspired".
You can enjoy something yet still point out the flaws it has.
Something people still can't seem to drill into their head.
I've played Demon's and Dark 1 since their respective launches. I am also greatly enjoying DS2.
Hell I already greatly enjoyed it in console. So much that I preordered the PC version as well.
