I've made it to Ancient Dragon without dying many times during my attempts on PS3 and PC.
Learn how to manage your stamina on the way back. That, and learn how to dodge properly...
Quality advice there, it is people like you which elevate these bleak forums
What r u, an intellectual person who is willing to help people? yes!
2. Start the fight by approaching his head at a medium pace, until he starts to breathe fire.
3. Go to his right front foot(your left) and perform 2-3 hits(2 hand your weapon for best results). Do NOT empty your stamina bar.
4. By now he'll have finished, go back up to his head and wait for him to either start ground fire again or fly up.
5. Before he does either thing, LOCK ON TO HIS HEAD. If he starts to fly up, back off towards the fog gate and 2 hand the Gyrm Greatshield. KEEP HIS HEAD IN VIEW, as in keep it in the screen. If you can manage that, you're far enough away that his breath won't hit you.
6. Wait for the flames to subside then repeat steps 1-5 until dead.
This fight is all about nerves, pattern recognition and patience. Don't get greedy, don't get ticked. Stay calm.
