Do I lose sunlight medal progress when joining a different covenant?

As the title says, I gave about 5-6 medals to the shrine after I joined, and a couple hours later, I want to rejoin the Blue Sentinels just for the unlimited boltstones and then rejoin the sunbros, will the progress of my sunlight medals reset?

Something does happen to the heirs of the sun covenant rank if you leave the covenant.
I gave 11 sunlight medals to the covenant. Tenth medal raised my rank from 0 to 1 and gave me the sunlight parma. Later I changed my covenant for a little while, and when I rejoined Heirs of the sun, I was at rank 0 again. But I only needed one sunlight medal to get back to rank 1, (I didn't get the sunlight parma this time)

I left heirs of the sun covenant total of 2 times, so if my math adds up, you lose one sunlight medal offering every time you leave the covenant.

Of course maybe the whole thing could have been a bug, but that's what happened.
