How do i make backup save files for Dark Souls 2?
How do you make a backup save file for Dark Souls 2? I had a simultaneous death with the Heide Knight and he dropped his weopon. But the item wasn't there after i returned from the bonfire. So now i lost out on a good weopon unless i start the whole game over again. Is there a way to save frequently so if you get screwed like this you can go back to an earlier save. I haven't figured out a way to do it yet.

You can usually find your save file here: C:\Users\*EnterYourUsernameForPCHere*\AppData\Roaming\DarkSoulsII You can copy and repaste that everytime, will get annoying though.

That doesn't exist as far as I know, you can download something that will create backups automatically but it's still a pain to deal with.

I wouldn't back anything up if I were you unless you wan't to take your character with you to another PC. Not being able to change your mistakes is the best thing about dark souls.

You should be backing up your saves regardless anyway, don't want to lose all your progress if your save is corrupted. :/

There are snapshot utilities out there that are simple exe's that will just make a automated copy of any file at timed intervals, similar to windows own backup service. Used to be freeware ones ages ago.

slightly off topic But I use a cloude save program called dropbox and use that as a backup for my saves. Im a subscriber but its free to sign up and get a little bit of space for free. More then enough for a Darksouls save.
If you run multiple machines its a really handy tool. I play on 4 seprate machines so It really helps.

Also I was not paid by dropbox to say this.

Yeah. thats okay too. Sorry if I seemed blunt, I didn't consider that as a reason.

Remember, I'm not talking about trying to erase my own mistakes. I'm talking about somehow being cheaply killed in a simultaneous death. I had full health and when i was doing the last strike on the Heide Knight somehow i was killed also and he dropped his weopon for pickup which i was unable to get because it dissappeared when i was respawned at the bonfire. So i just hate that the weopon he dropped dissapeared even though i killed him and he is no longer there to get the item.

Create a Dropbox account and make a symbolic link to Dropbox on the computers you play Dark Souls 2 on. That basically makes something that is the same as Steam cloud sync, albeit with more work getting it.

just type in %appdata% in the start menu it will take you directly to your roaming folder.
