where do you head after the old iron king

just beat him and game does a terrible job of saying where to go next.

Have you tried going down the giant well in Majula? Or the Lost Bastille?

Well if you have taken care of the Old Iron King then you most likely have also dealt with the Lost Sinner. At this point you have 2 of the 4 great souls you need to progress through the game which means you also have 2 paths to go from here. You can go down the pit in Majula and through the Grave of Saints to reach The Gutter which will lead you to Black Gulch where you can fight The Rotten for a great soul. It is a bit tough with the poison in those areas so watch out. You could also head into the Shaded Woods and from there you'll get access to the Shaded Ruins and eventually to Brightstone Cove Tseldora. You'll be able to take on the Duke's Dear Freja there for a great soul as well. After that its pretty straightforward.

There should be a pathway to the left after you exit Things Betwixt and head towards Majula (after the tutorial level). At the end there should be a room with a woman that is petrified, use the Fragrant Branch of Yore on her and then pull the lever (watch out for the ambush).
