small leather shield, if you need something else you're garbage.
Drakekeeper's shield is the best in all honesty. Not greatshield. Standard. 72% all around reduction (53% in Dark. Not a big deal though) and 100% physical. if you WANT you can imbue it with dark to make it 76% dark reduction and drop your physical down to 98%.

Well, there are still a lot of things that ignore shields. Stacking a bunch of attacks shields don't block with a plethora of trash shields, is a bit overkill.
That is until you get to Dragon shrine with it's infinite stamina, maximus trackus enemies.

As for a good shield, throne defender's shield is excellent, 100 phy defense, pretty good weight, and a bigger than average stability.
I dont know man, I smashed a ♥♥♥♥ ton of those golems with my grym shield(then later havels) and my cestus off hand, I can take about 15 strikes in a row without lowering my sheild before I faulter, and we high ADP you can just lower the shield mid slow ass swing and recover stamina faster then they drain it. Shields tend to be amazing when you need to stop damage from physical, not so much from elemental damage unless you make it situational. OH and never try to block the fire from a dragon, doesnt work EVER. oh yeah and dranglic shield is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing untill you get havels or gryms. Easy to find too at hte start!

Greatshield - Havel's Greatshield. The second place in this category is miles behind in both defensive and offensive stats.

Standard - Defender's Shield. Best stability (excl. greatshields) with 100% physical and decent non-physical defenses. Very potent for a non-Str build in PvP if infused with Dark.

Small - Target Shield, due to superior parry. You really shouldn't use small shields to block, since the stat requirement for standard shields are very low, and they are vastly better for blocking.

Hardly. Defender's Shield has lower stat requirement, higher stability, better resistances and is lighter than Drakekeeper's Shield.
yea i dont think theres any better shield then the 3 i listed...

if your not going to use the best shield..then theres no point in having a shield :P my aswell just wear heavy armor and lvl up resistances
Target shield

B1tch3$ don't know about my parry.

Some tryhards with twin blade crap going on means more chances my parry connects and they look crumbly getting knocked on their ass and executed.

Some nutless twinks tresspass in my belfry, wait at the door for me to spawn in and be used as floor mop shade #276. Parry and separation crystal; nice try.

dont need to parry..

wait til there stamina is below 50%.. hit them with the ultra dmg..they stagger.. they die lol
Little shields are useless, best medium seize shield is the kings shield, but the best greatshield doesen't exist....the most balanced is the rebels greatshield

Stability is the god stat.

That is why Defender's Shield is better than King's Shield, and why Havel's Greatshield is better than all other shields.

A fully upgraded Havel's Shield has a whole 15 stability more than a fully upgraded Rebel's Greatshield. It also only has around 10% less in fire/lightning/dark resistances, while retaining the same magical resistance and 100% physical resistance. Its shield strike damage is also significantly higher.
I like the King's Shield, has 100 physical defense and a built in fire defense. Plus it matches the King's Set I am wearing.
I have grown partial to King Vendrick's shield. Appropriate to use after beating the game. Looks stylish as well.

Tell me where to find Havel's Greatshield. Now.
Either way, stability isn't all we need, we need also good protection vs all kinds of damages, and if I am correct the Defender's shield hasn't more protection than the knigs shield

Drakekeeper Shield

100 phys, 70 to everything else, 6 weight, and can parry

LOVE IT
Havels Greatshield comes with the rest of Havel's set in the Gutter behind the Forgotten Door.

It is definitely the best greatshield in the game, due to the highest stability, combined with huge magic resist and max physical resist. The Rebels Greatshield despite having higher elemental defense, doesn't even come close in terms of physical.
