King's Ultra GS.

Finally killed Vendrick a few minutes ago after choking around 4 times and getting killed, so I went and grabbed his stuff and headed for Ornifex to trade the soul. The Shield and the sword didnt seem like viable options much, so I grabbed the Ultra GS, since I had heard that it gets an S in scaling and besides shot range, is a decent STR weapon. Wielding it with no reinforcement apparently has 180 + 155. I attacked a spider and on the first swing, it did 266. Okay, maybe it does more damage to armor. Went to Tower of Flame, grabbed one of the green dudes, did 266 on first swing there as well. Any idea why? For a weapon that needs 50 STR to wield and starts off with an A in scaling, this isn't doing much. At least its durable..

You literally just answered your own question. Fully upgrading it gives it an attack rating of 450 + S scaling in strength, so maybe it'll be a lot more viable when you get it to +5.

Maybe, but if the Stat screen says 180 + 155, why is it doing ~266 per swing?

Because enemies have defenses.

Get it to +5. Not many, if any at all are good without upgrades. Once you get it to +5 you should see some good damage.

Doesn't the king ultra greatsword scale with souls also?

That's the Ruler's Sword, which is the greatsword that you can craft with Vendrick's soul.

Yep. It's the only weapon that scales with souls.

It's the only greatsword to do strike damage(Blunt weapons) so that is good. Not sure about the soul scaling though. Think that might be the other greatsword you can make with his soul. Not sure.

I'm using a +5 King Ultra Greatsword.

Aside from its stupid shoe-with-a-statue-on-a-stick appearance, I'm wrecking face with it. Still trying to get used to the moveset though.
