I hate The Pursuer more than life itself
I got this game knowing it's hard, and I've been enjoying that aspect as well. Until I got to this ♥♥♥♥♥♥. I have probably lost to him 50+ times. I've run him so many times that nothing spawns on the path to him any more, just a leisurely stroll to the fog now.

"Git gud, lul"
Oh I did get good, kid. I hit up that wiki, watched them youtube videos. (Which is a sign of a bad boss fight in the first place.) I learned all about parrying and how to beat him. Heck, I've gotten real close to killing him a few times.

His fight is just so poorly designed! I get there and at this point parrying has been unexplained to me at all. (Maybe because all the tutorial signs were for controllers?) So I die a few times to his ridiculous ability to auto-lock your character even whilst in the air. Which ... seriously guys? In the air? I get that he can lock onto me for a charge, but why do all of his attacks go right in for the middle even if it makes him have to turn on a dime or in the air itself? So I look up parrying, practice that, and now I just keep struggling on his frustrating parry interval. Because I can't just parry any attack, only one of his charges, and I can't just parry any time either. I have to have my shield up, not just up but up without using auto block (for some reason I can never parry him with that on). And I can't just parry him as his charge gets to me, I also have to be walking at him, and then I have an interval between hope and dreams to get the parry in. Even after all that I've been screwed over more than once because the network features decided to show me a blood stain right under the ballista. Would I like to see this blood stain? No, I'd like to kill this boss thankyouverymuch!

This guy isn't hard in a good way, he's just tedious. And I just needed to yell into the sky about it.

But I do have a question. Are the rest of the bosses in this game hard like The Pursuer (tedious bullcrap) or hard like The Last Giant (only one exploitable weakness)? Because I'd love more fights lithe the Giant: where I have a beginning phase to assess the boss, then I can find his weakness and hit on it, then he ramps up.

I find him being one of the easiest fights in the game.

But seriously though, go to different places and get your Soul Level up.
You'll kill him in a few hits once you hit SL 50~ and upgrade your weapon.

If you think The Last Giant is hard, I'm afraid I've got some bad news.

If you have decent adaptability (so you have high agility and a lot of invincibility frames) he's not that hard. However, he's VERY unforgiving. Took me about ten tries the second time I fought him after killing smelter demon.
Pursuer was one of the more difficult ones that I fought. I actually skipped him since he's optional for a bit, came back with some better armor and a +3 Heidi Knight Sword and wooped him the old fashioned way. No ballista, no parry. Skip him for now if you want.

The Pursuer isn't really that hard, just wait for him to do his charging attack where he swing up and to the left of you, if you're strafing right you'll avoid t everytime and it leaves him wide open for an attack.

So I have to grind my nutmeg in this game? I could go play an MMO any time if I wanted a grinding game.

Well, yes. It is however very easy to get to SL 50. Beat some other bosses and then come back to the Pursuer.
You can strafe right or stick to the left and dodge roll his charge swing. He's decent parry practice too, after a couple times practice on the charge rush swing it became a bit easier.

Oh, and you're gonna love the guardian dragons....best boss design, ever....

I just started and have not died thanks to my experience on DS2 on the PS3 and I intend to keep it that way. The Pursuer boss fight is easy. Have someone distract him and fire the turrets at him.

Oh wait. You mean fight him head on? He can FLOAT bro. FLOAT. You don't mess with that. So no you don't need to grind. Use the environment to your advantage, have a summon, get the heidi or firesword. The turrets will kill him and after you beat him you can jump down to a platform up ahead near the nest and find a sweet set of armor and shield and weapon.

Roll, roll, roll, swing
Rinse and repeat.

Hold up your shield and lock on to him. Get as close as you can and strafe to the right. Keep doing this until he finishes a combo then hit him once or twice. Repeat until dead.

Actually that's how most of the boss fights in this game go.

I did try this, but I'm a sorcerer because magic rocks my socks. The windup on my attack ensures I can only get 1 hit in, and then he ends up hitting me during the process eventually and I die in 1-2 hits. I guess my only solutions are a) grind my nutmeg and b) keep smashing my face into the parry method until he falls down. Neither way sounds fun to me.
