Staff of Wisdom vs witchtree branch ( and other staffs too ).

Hey guys !

I'm playing as a sorcerer and I have to pick the best staff. I have witchtree branch +10 and staff of wisdom +3 . I can see that staff of wisdom doesn't have dark damag but it has high magic damage.... So the question is ... which is better ? I think I can upgrade the staff of wisdom to +10 but is it worth it ? I have 60 int and 28 faith. I use dark spells but i think I can use normal spells if it is neceserry.

Magic Staff of Wisdom+10 is by far the best Sorcery staff. Dark Sunset Staff+5 is the best staff for hexes. Black Witches Staff+10 is useful as it can cast sorceries, hexes and miracles.

The only real issue I've found with Staff Of Wisdom is it's size. You will occasionally end up casting over the heads of enemies that charge you.

If using hexes, a dark sunset staff +5 is the best catalyst for damage.
If using miracle hexes, dark caitha's chime +10 is best (unless you have 40 faith for a dark chime of want +5).
For sorceries, magic staff of wisdom +5 is best.
And finally, if you want to use both sorcery and hexes together, then get a black witch's staff since it has an A scaling in both int and dark (and could even cast miracles if you wanted)

Ah my bad. I generally don't use pyros or miracles, and knew that it could cover 3 spell types. Will edit appropriately.

Very area dependant. On bosses, you might not want to go for the super mega damaging ones like crystal soul spear since no matter how many you bring, it won't be enough.

Overall, there's a very transparent tier system for sorceries. Starting with the simple soul spear to heavy soul spear, their homing varieties, soul mass and crystal soul mass are slight upgrades, then there's soul geyser and crystal soul spear, which would be the end tier spells.

Overall it depends on your playstyle. You can bring the heaviest spells you got and oneshot everything but then are forced to use replenishing items during bossfights (assuming you're on par with the boss)

There's no "best" sorcery, they're all good and all of them will help you murder things dead (unless you plan to use cast light)

Upgrading the staff actually helps with the spells you caste? I thought that other than the pyromany flame only affects the damage you make when hitting things with your stuff which I do not do so I never bothered with upgrading my staff....

Best for what? Soul spear is very nice to deal lots of damage fast. Great heavy soul arrow is useful because you can use is quite often and it still does pretty decent damage per hit. "Magic weapon" and later "great magic weapon" are nice weapon buffs to up weapon damage output in situations that require it. And "Homing Soul Mass" is great for PvP and I usually cast it together with "Dark Weapon" before charging with my katana.

Toss a bonfire ascetic in the lower brightstone cove bonfire to artificially boost the area to ng+ so freja drops the little gift you need to make crystal soul spear (or the moonlight greatsword, if you'd prefer that). Just be warned, the nasty red phantom with the pickaxe from before will now have a dual wielding swordsman friend...
