Corpses why do some disapear while others stay?
am i the only one confused about the fact that some enemies you kill fall to the ground then disapear while others lay there i just dont get it i have been playing alot you can ragdoll almost anything including a boss i managed to ragdoll before it dissapeared i dont understand why FROM would make detailed colision meshes on some enemies that are litterally impossible unless you glitched the game like for example SPOILER ALERT OF A ENEMY TYPE ABOUT FOUR HOURS IN----- i managed to get a Ironclad warrior to lay on the ground indefinatly when i got summoned the momment i killed him and the moment i returned to my world the body just layed there
i thought this game was suposed to be dark corpes would make it dark in Dark Souls 1 nearly everything layed there until you rested i wish it was like that in this game

what
does anyone have a clue i am curious why it was designed like this i really want to know also what did he mean by "yes it worked ao well in DS1 right?" that doesnt relate to the topic

In Dark Souls 1 it was lore-related. To avoid Spoilers I'm just gonna say that some enemies were actually conjured illusions so they just vanished when they were killed.

Might be a similiar thing in this game, probably.

there are some spells that effect corpses. these wouldn't work if you could kick around dead bodies like in the first game. as for enemies that disappear, they're mostly just the ones that are really big. it would be kinda ridiculous to have those giant bodies laying around.

when did i say anything about kicking i hated that in dark souls 1 and actualy most enemies in dark souls 2 arnt that big and i beat the game so i would know most of the enemies in dark souls 2 that disapear are the same size as you

so anyone going to give a good reason
Sinslith May 3, 2014 @ 10:24am
Ok lets start with the simple things . First of all the reason enemies disappear is just for pure perfomance reasons . Second of all enemy corpses dont dissapear as long as you are near them and you are watching them . The moment you stop watching them or go a bit further away they dissapear it is tied to the perfomance as I stated above , They had to make the game work on 1000 year old consoles and in order to make it run better than the first one they had to do this

Then you must laugh at a lot of games since Dark Souls isn't the only one to do something like that.
but the corpses that do stay in dark souls never disapear and not to metion that the fact he was treating me like a child that doesnt understand computers i have modded for years and i am tech savy corpses (especially with sleep timers) do not make computers slow to a crawl

I am literally laughing at your silly reply; what Sinslith said is COMPLETELY correct.

Some enemys have a vanishing effect such as demons.. other enemies stay there until you move far enough away/stop looking at them. It doesn't matter because in the end all enemies need to be culled for performance reasons.

The only reason DS1 didn't do that was literally because it was a bad/lazy design choice. In the world of game development, the idea of leaving corpses everywhere is considered bad design because they serve almost no purpose and cause a massive dent in performance and loss of memory. I'm very sure it was in FROMs, and all the consumers interest to have a functional, smooth gameplay experience.
