So why did they emphasize stunlocking?
They even make a ring to decrease poise...
I have been locked from simple daggers with heavy poise armor. This is the pvp now?

Honestly it hasn't been a big problem for me. The most hits I've taken is 3.

If for whatever reason you are constantly getting R1 spammedn and you can't parry, toss on a Ring of Thorns or the Sun Ring. It'll stop -fast-.

Poise works completely differently now. It's no longer hyper armor, and only works when you're in the middle of an attack/animation. So yes, a dagger can stunlock you if you're just standing there with heavy armor, but if you're in the middle of an attack, then you shouldn't get stunned.

exactly , poise now isn't a passive god mode anymore , now you have to actually make use of your poise advantage , basically having high poise means you need to trade hits at the right time

in dark souls 1 , stacking poise and poisebackstabbing everyone was what most players were doing which was plaguing the pvp , so they tried to remedy this by changing the poise mechanics and making backstabs harder to perform to limit backstab fishing and poise backstabbing

Likewise parrying now not only involves timing but distance management too , so it"s more technical now , you can no longer face hug someone and spam parries , the game has changed , we need to understand it better but yes you can be stunlocked by smaller weapons if you stand around and didn't block or dodge or parry or traded , which probably makes smaller weapons viable now , especially with the power stance mechanics

Well do to the lag still playing a big roll, I rarely hit any parry. Second someone gets a hit they just spam till your dead.

Poise was fine and backstabs could be handled another way. I don't like the new poise. Most people now seem to not care about poise in their builds.

You don't need to care about it, it seems they made the game to cater to spam. From what people say about the new poise, you counter stunlock by spamming yourself...so unless you have a one shotting 2h weapon, you need to spam to win.

I've got 27 ADP and have been stunlocked by the Rapier/Buckler Ghosts in the Undead Crypt for up to 5 hits before. And this was with around 50~ poise or so, it's really annoying.

Poise is kinda broken now...i can stunlock an opponent useing a great shield by smashing him with my mace more fun than trying to do the guard break as it only comes out 2 times out of 10 for some reason when useing a pad and your left open swingin your tool around :/

ADP is a pointless stat ive got 4 ADP and i am in NG+++ dont try and tank hit's roll.

Well it seems all kinds of broken to me. Basically yes unless your using a massive damage two hander an want to just trade the hit your best bet is to equip the cheap ass old sun ring. That ring will punish stun lock but then it also just punishes light weapons in general. Since they really should be allowed to get in a short combo without being blown up. But they also shouldn't totally lock the person down. Of course it almost doesn't matter since everyone is going to play a Mage eventually.

stunlock = you're essentially stunned continuously, unable to do anything about it (ie: locked in).
Poise = your ability to take damage without being staggered and interrupting whatever action you were doing.
spam until you die = use the basic attack of your weapon repeatedly since your opponent will then get stunlocked and won't be able to do anything about it, thereby dieing.

On a more serious note, I actually see the "stunlock" problem of pvp to almost be a blessing in disguise. Since everyone thinks they can just r1/rb to win, they end up wasting all their stamina when they think they've scored a hit, allowing you to do some hits of your own
