Cale the cartographer bug
[Possible spoilers]

So, I met in the forest this Cale, who gave me the key for his house and so on.
The problem is that, after I killed the skeleton that was inside, he didn't appear. Checked everywhere, but he is not there. I think it is because I killed the skeleton in the exact moment he killed me. Do you confirm it is a bug?
Anyway, I read that you can solve this kind of glitch by using a Bonfire Ascetic, but how does it work exactly?

Not a bug, you have to talk to him once or twice more after he gives you the key.

I spoke to him until he didn't say the same thing twice (like a do with every single NPC) and he isn't even in the forest.

Pretty sure he doesn't show up until you light one of the Primordial Bonfires.

did you kill the giant already? he has to be dead for him to move to majula.

I have the same issue...No Cale and I have killed Mr big fat giant head.

is cale still in the tunnel in forest of falen giants? if so just keep talking to him and he will go to mansion eventually.

and he is not in the cave aswell? That does seem like a bug to me, no idea if a bonfire ascetic will fix that, but it might be worth a try.

I'll try with a Bonfire Ascetic as soon as I get one, but by the way, is this NPC important in any way?

This seems to be a common bug (happened to me as well). The only known way to make him appear is to use a bonfire ascetic.

It seems to take a while for him to appear. After I got the key from him (and talking to him couple times even after that) I didn't find him at his house. However, as I went further in the game, he eventually appeared there.

Ok guys, so, I found my first Bonfire Ascetic in the Lost Bastille and used it in Majula. Killed the 2 skeletons with some difficulties (they are Ng+ skeletons aren't they?) and Cale appeared.
Just for who reads this thread, when you find this bug, use a Bonfire Ascetic in Majula
