Rat hitbox is broken
Rats' hitboxes that are in Doors of Pharro are extremely buggy. My sword passess right through them and they don't recieve any damage, and it happens so freaking often! I mean, really often, I see this every damn run! I didn't have this problem when I was playing my first character, because I've been using Greatsword and only one blow used to kill them all. But now I have a character with Longsword, and I can't do it anymore. That would be okay, if their hitboxes were well-done, but sometimes I can spent all my stamina and not to hit them once! Wtf is this?

Yeah this is annoying. To hit them reliably you need a weapon that swings downwards, like the B*astard sword R2. Especially annoying on the rat boss(es).

I've tried to use Heid's Sword, but this didn't help much. I can actually see how the sword passes right through them.

Well, how am I supposed to beat this boss in the Doors of Pharros location? I can't kill this rats without being toxified, because I can't kill them before they hit me :/

That boss is cheap and really frustrating. If you can get them to bunch up you can one to two hit swing them all at once. This is the only boss I died on around 70 times. It's not just you, this boss is based on how lucky you are, nothing to do with skill so don't worry about it.

with a greatsword that boss is really easy but if you do not have a strength build i can see how it's a horrible battle.

If you have a upgraded bow you can shoot 2 or 3 of them before they get to you. that's what i usually do.

I suspect that these rats are just non-existable (just as this word may be, sorry for bad english) for weapons while their attack animation goes on :/

I disagree. Some smart positioning easily lets you bring them all together and finish them off with one or two swings. No luck involved. Move and dodge rather than just stand there and block it with a shield. The small rats are incredibly stupid and just rush straight for your face. If you back up while they are charging you, they tend to miss you entirely.

No, I don't have it :( And I ran out of Titanite Shards, even from the blacksmith. I tried to kill them with lightning spear, but it's too slow.

I don't have much time to "dance" with them, there is a wolf that chargers pretty fast.
Most of the hit-boxes in this game look like they've been coded by a 10-year-old Mugen programmer.

You'd think, given the dubious history of collision detection in the Souls games, that they would have put some effort into making this aspect of the game better, not worse.

If you're playing unlock, tilting the camera to look down might help. It also helps using weapons with vertical slashes.

This reason is valid. If you prance about and not swing to quickly knock out those tiny rats this big mother fudger will smash you down in a hit. This boss feels cheap, it's difficult due to the tiny minion rats which isn't fair lol.

He doesn't charge you until a short while after aggroing the small rats though. I can usually kill all the small rats before he even reaches me, especially if you go towards the right side of the room.
And besides, you can just stand in between his legs and he can't hit you with anything, giving you plenty of time to kill his annoying little minions.
