Getting the items near the lava in The Iron Keep!?!
I can't figure it out, the fire damage recieved is to significant and at too fast a rate for my health to survive. I've even raised my fire defence to 160, i'm using a Flame Quartz Ring, i use pyromancy Flash Sweat and i consume a Small Orange Burr, and yet still i die within 3-5 seconds of sprinting on those hot rocks just on the lava's serface. I can see the "shades" of other players managing to open the chest & loot it in the last area, was only able to commit suicide and grab the Fire Seed near the start of that one, cant even get 20% the way for the item near the start of the iron keep. Is there a special ring or spell or item or even a trick that lowers the lava or cools it? I'm clueless here.

well you can cover yourself in water but the items arnt worth the effort

pyromancy + heals .. yeah .. items useless except one spell, but its the hardest to get and probably takes some playthroughs until your vitality is high enough .. btw. the items you take dont help you .. only the last one you use (if you use flash sweat and after that the Orange Burr only the Orange ♥♥♥♥ will apply)

there are sources of water in the areas, as long as you are soaked xyou take 50% fire-damage
look for the black jars and also some pharros' contraptions

also, if you manage to exceed 400 (i think, not sure) fire-resitsance, you are completely immune to it

The trick is high fire resist gear (the smelter demon armor set for example), flash sweat if you are a pyro. The Water jars in the area (black vases) if you crash into them you are covered in water and it helps a lot. Pop a life gem as well before you run and it will help counter the damage.

Flash Sweat (pyro) Small Orange Burr or rolling in water (there are jars to smash and roll in water)

If you roll through the vases to douse yourself in water, put on your best fire resist gear, use a Small Orange Burr and cast Flash Sweat (pyromancy) on yourself, you will have enough fire resistance to walk out onto the flaming rocks and get the item from the chest. You will need to use your Estus Flask a couple of times in order to stop yourself from dying. Proactive healing with either a miracle or a lifegem is also recommended.

Using this tactic, I managed to get to the chest and pick up the item within. I only had 15 Vigor at the time, so you don't need ridiculous amounts of health to survive.

Also if you have the faith try using replenishment etc. to counteract some of the damage taken.
what is the item in the chest anyway, i wont bother if its crap, im a sorcerer i only care about sorcerer related loots, and this chest just looks like something good might be in it worth while, i just tried dousing in water and that didnt work, nearly died, retreated back to the stairs.

Pyro of some description I believe.

You need at least 600 fire resistance to get most of the items. With 600 resist you can get the first item (at the bonfire) and survive. The items in chests will kill you even if you're wet but you can grab the item before dying. Some of the stuff is decent, but none of it is super amazing. I got all of them just because I like completing areas. The first chest item is the phoenix parma, a small shield with high fire resist and decent other stats.
HAHAHA, oh man, i just thought that the iron keep was a harsh place, i just now realised that there was a bonfire at the very start of the iron keep, man lol. First time i came here i just crossed the bridge fought the soldiers stopped the furnace and fought the iron golem to get to what i thought was the "first bonfire" in the iron keep, man im a dumbass. haha. (i'm using this area to farm souls, i'm powerfull enough to 2 shot every enemy here with dark orb and my archdrake scepter+10 i've got the covetus gold serpent ring+1 and the covetus silver serpent ring combined with the jester's cap and jester's gloves. I'm getting roughly 1860 per greatbow knight, and 960 per dual wielder, 1054 for those haval looking stout knights, half of them are dropping blacksteel katanas and heaps of the Aloone knight set. I'll just end up going back to pharros doors (area) and selling to "wheel" (XD) for even more souls.

I'm lv110 sorcerer now, 55 intelect, 50 attunement, 15 faith, 15 Vigor. Should i maybe use a Bonfire aesthetic to increase their difficulty here and get more souls? Also speaking on bonfire aesethic, do you need to use one at the shade ruins bonfire in order to open that door that says "Seek Mightyer Souls" ?
