Technically you can jump there without using the key or king ring
Some games perform a check when you try to open a door, if you have the key. If so they open. DS1 on the other hand didn't do this.
Instead, a flag is used instead to determine if an area should be open or closed. IE when you kill Capra, the depths flag changes from a 0 to a 1.
This can be proven by giving yourself a key via cheat engine, it won't do anything at all. Areas will still be locked.
In short: Try opening them without the key. If DS2 works the same way as the original and the flag triggered when you killed the giant..you might find that it'll open.
Huh? Jump where? As far as I'm aware Nashandra won't even be accessible without the giant lord being dead.
You can jump to the Giant Lord bonfire behind the King's Gate from the platform overlooking the valley area (the platform connected to the Cardinal bonfire)
It is tricky, but it works
