Despawning enemies = TERRIBLE IDEA
One beautiful thing about Dark Souls was that it was very unforgiving. When you went through a zone you had to be always careful not to do any mistakes or you would eventually pay for them. You would have to plan your healing and not even be hit by the lowest foot soldier. That was one of the game's charms and it was taken away in the sequel.

When you kill an enemy a certain amount of times it just stops respawning. If you die a lot, while going through an area, the game just slowly removes the enemies, making the area gradually easier and giving you a free pass. The less enemies an area has left, the less are the chances of you making a mistake and wasting an estus,

People usually use the excuse that they wanted to prevent farming.
***If they really want to prevent farming there are other ways to go about it, like, I don't know, stop the npcs from giving any souls/drops after a certain point instead of removing them completely.*** So no, it is NOT about farming.

Call me a bad player, but in NG I've hit this despawning cap a few times and I was terribly disappointed. Imagine NG+++ with blood covenant. The game patted me in the back and essentially told me "don't worry, it doesn't matter if you don't get it right or not, you suffered enough, let me remove enemies for you". No, damn it! This is supposed to be Dark Souls!

It's more often than not possible to just rush straight past all enemies to the boss anyway, so I don't really mind.
Burn a bonfire ascetic and stop whining.

If you died to a boss 15 times, and the enemies you fought 15 times over and over again were still a problem, I say you shouldn't even be playing the game in the first place.

They are fodder, it takes like 3 goes in a stage to get it right every time. The biggest effect of this is preventing farming, whether you want to admit it or not.

Also no one cares.

That is why they reduced est flasks and you need to find them as you go.

Watch he say that makes the enemies hard and that's unfair, while at the same time saying this mechanic is FOR DA CASUALZ.

What are you even talking about? O.o
Who said that anything makes the enemies hard and unfair. Learn to read?

Also, no, in DS the enemies are not "fodder". That's one of the things that were great in DS in the first place. This is not Skyrim. Nothing is fodder here. As for the farming, it is the most pathetic excuse and if they wanted to prevent it I already said in the OP what they could have done.

And that is why there are so many other healing items in the game too?

I pray for the infinite respawn mod. Although consider this: after 15 (or so) kills, next kill would give 0 souls but mobs would respawn infinite times.

That is how it was supposed to be. But no they had to make the game more "accessible". Now we all know what that means. Anyone who supports this abomination of despawning enemies should not play Dark Souls in the first place.

There is a covenant near the start of the game you can take to make pve much harder, take it and stop whining.

I'm just gonna throw this out there, I haven't died or even had to go back through an area enough to have the enemies start despawning so any non-casuls should be just fine. You just need to git gud.

If you play casual bu going where it is easy first in a correct order it won't matter. If you want to throw yourself into bigger chalenges right away it does. That feature is a complete non-sense and they should get rid of it right away.

I tried right from the start to beat the ogre close to the house with my bare hand (deprived). i died quite a lot but it was fun. I don't want the game to be screwed because of my habits.

So let me get this straight... I have to git gud so that the game doesn't punish me by removing its challenge? Heh...
Good for you for not hitting the cap despawn cap but some do. Like Pnume mentioned one might even want to complete the game with a way that involves a lot of dying. And this may even change for you in NG+++ or if you get in the blood cov.

So guys, what can we do about this? Do you know if such a mod is even possilble?

I've waited for so long for this game and avoided spoilers like a ninja but now I'm acting like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ - I can't play the game seeing that another mob has disappeared on the way from bonfire to the boss.

A kickstarter campaign for the mod maybe? XD

it's super easy to farm souls if you want.

join games as a shade in a good spot, TONS of souls doing very short runs and stones.
or use the phantom mode for the same thing.
it's kind of cool because it helps the social aspect of the game continue.
ppl would just drag huge trains of mobs off cliffs and such before.
it's not a bad thing.
