My ass.

I've finished DS1 NG+ almost without any challenge because there was no element of surprise and it didn't require me to adapt to the game anymore.
And I though that experience will help me to play DS2 without any problems.

God I was wrong, dying like a scrub who plays Souls for the first time.

Some game mechanics like early warping, Ring of Life Protection, 70% load fast roll, etc. should make up for an easier game.

Also, the bosses are overall a bit easier.

I feel your pain, veteran Demons Souls player and beaten Dark Souls around 2 times over yet still Dark Souls II is thrashing my ass and I'm dying left right and center. Or maybe I'm just rusty at Souls :rfacepalm:
DS2 might be too easy but its definitely harder than DS1
You're probably just rusty--when I started out in the PS3 rev, I was having some trouble for a couple of hours but, after that, short a boss or two, it was mostly a cakewalk and felt vastly easier than DeS or DaS, overall.

there is nothing easy about this game. I don't mind the difficulty in itself, but then they decided to put in a mechanic where IT MAKES IT HARDER every time you die, WTF?
my health has now been nerfed to the point where I can't even take on 1 normal enemy, sigh.

The hideous amount of input lag on mouse buttons is completely screwing me.

WTF is it with namco/bandai ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on keyboard/mouse control schemes? Is it that hard? No.

The only thing hard about this game is the deplorable kb+m controlling. It's broken, simple as that.

DS2 is just like walking from a surprise gangbang into another, well, kinda...

Well, I'm not all that good of a player, but I've never been with only 50% max hp, so I won't comment on that.

I'm just gonna say that you probably are wandering too far for your level or something. If someplace is too difficult, you're probably in the wrong place at the moment. Also, there're workarounds for max hp issues early in the game.
I'm certainly not the best Souls player by a longshot and I have to admit this game has been a cakewalk compared to the other 2. I've killed Dragonrider, Old Dragonslayer, Flexile Sentry and Pursuer on my first attempts and only died once fighting the Last Giant cause he raised his foot at the last minute before I could land the killing blow. It's a great game but anyone who says it's harder than the other 2 souls game is a lil cray cray...

They're not only easy to cheese, and I'm not talking about magic, but also they're legitimately skippable.
glad Im not the only one. I can almost play dark souls all the way through with barely dieing. But I beat maybe 2 bosses so far and died 50+ times
Before an idiot started to doubt my skill , i made a test yesterday with a sorcerer class to test how open ended the game was and went straight to Lost Bastille Ruins with a level 20+ character to try to beat the Sentinel bosses like i would for instance go straight to the 4 Kings with base level char in Dark souls 1 (sorcerer being the hardest class even in hyper mode since you can't afford to take a single hit and can only use crap shields/dagger/shortsword and no pyro ) to check if its possible to take an original path and i concluded Dark Souls 2 is defintely harder if you don't follow the "ideal" path laid out by the devs when not using the tanky melee buffer build

the reason is the amount of enemies , how the controls aren't as tight and dodging (invincibility frames ) not as prevalent and overall the challenge uneven (some bosses super easy , others super hard if you don't have the 100% shield reduction or a sizeable amount of hp )

It depends which class and path you take , but if you take the "normal" path and a tanky char melee , dark souls 2 is not particularly harder than the 1 , less open ended as one path is a lot easier than others , the bosses are definetely harder than dark souls 1 in general (only the kings and manus/kalameet were noticeably challenging at low level in dks1 ) and parryin is a lot less reliable than it was in the dark souls 1

Also aside from this , instead of having to necessarily use that ring of life protection (which grants infinite "humanity" ) for those who love to play coops very often or simply want to play human all the time for the looks , it would have been a lot better if human effigies were sold in infinite numbers by the merchants (since you can 't farm it indefinetely as enemies stop respawning at some point ) for more money than it takes to repair that ring , after all humanities were infinite in dks1 and there was nothing wrong with it , this would have helped new players to have more incentives turning human and keep trying and cooping instead of giving up because of the difficulty
