Bonfire ascetic it, duh.
It is to prevent people abusing mobs for PvP duel.
But, seriosly. Farm boss battles by getting summoned, as Heartbleed said, or PvP.
also you dont even need to grind in any of the souls games. the problem is not knowing how to minmax your character the first time you play.
btw I've played this way on-line since 1st of may - VAC free :)
2. Without knowing? It SPECIFICALLY tells you that "this will set you on an arduous path". Shalquoire also mentions that joining it will make your life more difficult. Learn to read for once.
3. In fact, this is hardly a punishment. This will punish those who want to overfarm and breeze through the boss, but will relieve those who struggled to get to the boss/next bonfire intact.
All of those things you listed required basic logic to figure out. One thing I've noticed about a lot of people who complain the loudest in the forums is that they all seem to not want to USE basic logic, but rather would prefer to spend the time they could be using to improve themselves as a gamer whining for nerfs and threatening to quit like it might actually influence bamco/from/whoever else to do what they want.
People just to get their hands held. Figuring things out for yourself takes effort, it's so much handier of the game just outright tells you everything, preferably with an on-screen quest tracker, minimap and big glowing arrows pointing the way.
Actually having to think while playing a game?! Preposterous!
See, while I play games that have those things, I usually turn them off when possible/get mods that remove them, because well... it's more fun to explore and get lost and learn more about the game/world. What bothers me most though... so many games that use those things these days don't even have alternate paths/open worlds, it's all just linear paths that lead from objective A to Objective B with some enemies or obstacles between. So there's literally no point to the objective tracker or minimap or arrows. I remember when games took actual thought and effort to play, and as I've said several other times, the souls games were meant to pay homage to that generation of gaming.
