Key Binding Reference
The Game is gonna be quite enjoyable when we all work together and figure out how to do thing's properly with a KB+M.

So far i've found out "a" is Enter, "B" is Spacebar, i need to know what "x" & "y" are on the keyboard.

As for everything else, i'm getting used to having to hold spacebar with my thumb and then press f with my index finger just to jump gaps, not entirely sure how to jump attack though, other then the falling attack.

Also unsure about how to GuardBreak, i know that double tapping lift click or right click is used for either power attacking with your single hand weapon or parrying with your shield.

Maybe wielding your weapon with 2 hands and then double clicking is the Guard Break?

I need to learn which key is "y" so i can light torches, and i need to learn how to offer items rather then use them (Small Spoiler) Near the start of the training zone is another crow's nest (reference from DS1) and they squall "give us smooth & shiny" which i assume was the smooth stone below the waterfall, i just ended up using the item and restoring my health, i belive i wasted that oppotunity, might have earned a reward if i had only known the key.

I'm considering the option of going out and getting a x-box controller for the pc, so i can avoid all this hassel, but in truth i'm a pc gamer at heart and prefer having "the world at my fingertips" (mouse control).

Please list what keys are defualt used to perform certain action's Here.

Hopefully this post will reduce the number of uninformative and complainer posts on this subject.

"A" = Enter
"B" = SpaceBar
"Y" = N
"X" = E
"Help / Select" = T
"Guardbreak" = While locked on move forward and light attack
"Jump Attack" = While locked on move forward and power attack

Uh... No thanks Apr 24, 2014 @ 6:16pm
Note, there is actually a key bind option in game to see all this.
It's not very informative though.

key binding is not an issue if you are patient, and if you are not then dark souls is probably not a game for you :) anyways. if you played DS1 with a keyboard and mouse then you would know by now that it was great(with the fixes of course). but now there is a huge problem.

in dark souls1 you could click your right-click or hold it to continue attacking, but in dark souls 2 you have to wait for the animation to end to actually attack again. even if you change the double-click on strong attack to "Nothing", you will still have the same problem.

and to make things worse, if you keep clicking while the animation is active your character wont move. so if you miscalculate a second and miss that hit/stagger YOU DIED.

conclusion: this needs to be fixed or many pc gamers will go hollow, some of them have already hollowed to the point of getting a refund. and who is blaming them if a game that costs a full price is unplayable.
I'm not saying it's unplayable, it's actually very playable, people are just not in the know when it comes to which key to press to do something properly, instead of pressing enter to interact i easily just hold shift and left click simple really, e is for using your item or u can also hold shift and right click too, i live how middle mouse is the targeting lock, and scrolling up/down scrolls through your items and spells, just like darksouls 1
I'd like an upadte on lt & rt, i'll update it myself if i can confirm certain actions

its nearly impossible to do the guard break/riposte/critical/backstap/jump attack via mouse, the input wont register, tried the same thing with keyboard and it works, however i recomend using any generic gamepad with xboxce, at least until the fix these issues.

so the fact that your character freezes if you press the attack button while the animation is active is not bothering you, then you didn't get far in the game or you are just too blind to accept reality and that the game is really unplayable.
Well, against feak moobs it is playable, but not against any stronger enemys! And jump mechanic is deffenetly unplayable! I got that i can jump only while runing but the jump itself is not happening. I have even thought that jump is not working in a game at all but i managed to do it couple of times by accident soo... they (jumps) do exist! i have spend a couple hours in game already and with a controls like that ... it is not a chalange, it is a torture. And one more thing. There is no proper mouse support. I have at least 7 buttons on my mouse and i hoped that i will be able to use at least 5 of them! The control options from software are offering to us are good as used toilet paper.
I havnt had an issues, after exploring the game quite a bit and leveling up 10 soul levels, ive found all the controls working, they'r just mapped poorly, it can be a bit frustrating at times, but it's almost 100% like darksouls 1 on steam. The only attacks that you may think arnt working are the jump attack and guardbreak but they do work, first you need to have actually locked onto a target with either middle mouse tap or "o" and then you need to be moving forward then press a light attack for the guardbreak or double tap for the jump attack, although some weapons have varrying styles of this power attack, like most slash weapons will do a jump attack, piecing weapons will do a vault dash sort of attack and there are other's like spear and hammers ect. The only thing i havnt seen as of yet is a shop that offers arrows for sale, so my advice if you want a bit of ranged combat as an option is to roll your starting class choice as the sorcerer or cleric to start with the spells, since you only need to use a bonfire to restore them and now darksouls 2 has a few spell restoring consumables, almost like demon souls had.
I'm sure i'm not too far away from the next merchant that should be able to sell me arrows though, and tbh arrows are really good for taking down hard enemies that your unsure about fighting yourself, most the time they have a certain aggro radius range, and if you try to kite them to far, theyll often try to turn around and resume their normal position, but unlike other games, they dont heal back to full health when they do this, so you can kite, wait for the pathing limit, and then unleash your ranged attacks, re-aggro them on you and then kite them back to their limited range, another thing is that their not that smart, you can use a sheild to block most of their attacks and fight them close to an abyss or edge that would otherwise kill you if you fell, you can swivel them and trick them into killing themselves and still retain the souls for the death. The same as Darksouls 1, but obviously your not going to be able to loot them if they were to drop loots if you made them suicide.
I'm going to create a second character and look into the stash and see if its shared across your characters, if it is then there's another exploit to take advantage of, like 4 of the same ring, dual wielding the same legendary weapon, and taking advantage of the # of spells available, aswell as # of consumable souls. I cant wait to find out.

I didnt buy the game yet but i remember there are some mods to change ingame Button icons.

I found this http://www.nexusmods.com/darksouls2/mods/3/?

A similar mod can be done for keyboard mouse settings.

Nice sum up, and also:

Pressing N will make you go 2 handed on your right hand weapen

Holding N will make you go into Power Stance when duel wielding, your stats needs to be 150% of the required stats for the weapons though.

This game is completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥ in regards to keybindings. They randomly wont stay what you tell them to, and frequently just wont work for no apparent reason. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get a refund.

Or you're too stupid to turn doubleclick off.
