Dark souls 2 is causing my PC to randomly SHUT DOWN
I have a fairly powerful rig, temp never goes above 31c, dual 780TI....runs like a charm on max settings and then-boom. Entire pc shuts down.

I had a similar problem a few years back. Turns out it was just a slightly loose PSU cable. Make sure that sucker is firmly plugged in.

I am expiriencing the same issue. approach the mists, pc shuts down most of the times. Repeated trying finally lets me get through the mists, mostly after 5-10 attempts. this is the same for any of those mists.
the computer just ran 6 hours non stop in arma3, which is highly stressing. i am confident that the issue is not a loose power supply cable but rather some interrupts/calls that are bugged

This happens ONLY in Dark Souls 2, to many people. And in no other game before and after.

Happened to me as well, and destroyed my character.

My friend's having the same problem, but he's on a laptop. Anything else runs fine.

No unfortunately this isn't true. DS2 just caused my machine to do the same thing. I think it's hard drive related. OP, do you have an SSD? My PC shut the **** down instantly and then my SSD would not get recognized. I still have to force it to boot from the SSD.

It's a combination of issues but DS2 is definitely the culprit. It also causes my graphics card to fail at times, and the system hangs while sound still plays. No way out but to reset. This is just not the game to have these issues.

I also have dual 780ti's, but not running in SLI mode so just a single card. Might want to be sure to check that settings is set to single card use in the Nvidia settings.

The update that came out hasn't fixed the crashing problem for me yet. Namco also hasn't responded to my email yet.

I recommend a free program called WhoCrashed. It will let you view any crash dumps that Windows might have generated. Also, you may be getting BSODs and not even know it. Windows 7 has an option that automatically restarts when you recieve a blue screen. Turning it off might let you diagnose the problem. Here is a guide:

WhoCrashed doesnt even log the computer shutting down from Dark Souls II but logs everything else. The BSOD thing doesnt work as i unchecked the setting to restart computer on BSOD and my computer still restarts without showing anything

Having this issue. It's not that the computer shuts down, it just hard crashes, requiring a power cycle to restart. This is most definitely not a systems issue, but a problem with the DS2 code. Shocking.

I think it might be something graphics card related on my end. Shuts down and resets sometimes, shuts down and hangs idefinitely other times. Almost always when I'm mid fight. Screen comes back up and I'm pwned.

Got the same problem with random crashes. The crashes happen if im going through fog gates or resting at bonfires. The game is unplayable in its current state for me :(! My Pc would handle BF4 easily so its not about temperature or whatever. It has to be a serious bug in the game because my system is two days old and ds2 was the first game installed so it cant be dirver errors or whatever either. I have a 280x card. Please fix asap!

the only time i've seen this problem before, the pc just completely shutting off, like a power surge happened, was A. when my cpu fan died and it went over 105C, and B. When my PSU couldn't handle my GTX480.

Running the game in windowed mode fixed the problem for me. Certain fog walls would consistently shut my pc off, hasn't happened once since I went to windowed mode.

Windowed mode has also proved to be a viable workaround for me. Unacceptable that the game should have to be played like this. This will be the last time I purchase anything that says Namco on it.
