Require Xbox Live??

The first Dark Souls required Xbox gold membership to play online on the PC. So i was curious if this one uses Xbox live? Hopefully it doesnt require it :).

Don't worry. Dark Souls 2 is completely free from the cancer that is GFWL.

Dark Souls never required a Gold Membership, only a GFWL account. GFWL is on the way out, thankfully and Dark Souls 2 uses Steamworks.

Dark Souls didn't require gold to play it. If your gold sub did run out, it said your online privelages were revoked or something like that. But once you restarted the game, it let you play still. But anyway, you don't need gold, nor do you need XBL or GFWL (THANK GABEN it's dead..). I believe the game will run off of steam servers, which is really good. :D

I just know it used my Xbox Live id which is GFWL on PC? Anywho i tried to play Dark Souls the other day and it disabled online for me because my gold ran out a while ago.

You never needed a gold account to play any PC game that used Games for Windows Live lol.

You didn't need Gold membership to use GFWL online play. I let my Gold run out after getting a gaming PC and I just got done with some jolly cooperation in dark souls 1. GFWL won't be used with Dark Souls 2 so no need to worry about anything like that. Praise the sun!
