Install location for Pre-load
Apologies if this is obvious, or has been addressed elsewhere, but is it possible to choose which drive is used to pre-load DS2? It isn't giving me an option, and I would like to put it on my SSD.

There are workarounds, but the pre-load feature of Steam does not allow you to choose. It pre-loads the data to the drive it was installed to.

Ah okay, cheers.

I suppose it'll be possible to copy the data from one location to another once the game unlocks?

Could i try to play now? or only at 25th of april?

I too had to pre-load it to my SSD. I only have Steam installed on there, because I enjoy the shorter start-up time. Once it is released I will have to do the following to actually install it on the right drive (consider that a guide for you, neems):

a. Copy & paste the whole game directory to the other drive. It might be intelligent not to use the Steam directory here.

b. "Uninstall" the game from steam

c. "Install" the game again on the right drive. Pause the installation process.

d. Copy the DS2 backup into the new DS2-directory Steam created on the correct drive. Resume the installation. Wait a few seconds, Steam will check the downloaded files. It usually finds them and runs.

Just make sure to actually let Steam decrypt the pre-loaded files on release day, though. To make sure they are you might want to launch DS2 at least once before moving the data.

You can try if you gift me a copy of DS2. And please tell me how you decrypted the pre-loaded data, so Valve can ban you accordingly.

You could try, you would fail to do so.

Thank you SmileCode, I figured I'd be able to do something along those lines. It would be so much easier if they let us choose though :-(
