Special rules:
-No kindling
-No summoning
-Must defeat all area bosses (DLC is optional)
-Kill everyone (if possible)

Hardcore: Don't light any bonfires

also SL 1 runs are always good.
Alternatively, if you have PS3, get Demon Souls, which is at par with Dark Souls
Sorry for the late reply. You can bonfires that is already activated but you just cannot light any. The idea by true Dark Lord is that by the end of the game all bonfires (except Ash Lake) should be extinguished. The DLC doesn't count because it is set way in the pass.
It would kinda be acting against the dark if you completed teh DLC content, but then again, the serpents won't know, and you can always RP and pretend that you didn't realize that the Dark was the way to go until after killing everything.
