But what really sucks is the release date.
$90 USD is not cheaper than anything else out there (and nearly as expensive in many other countries).
I suspect that the publishers of Darks Souls & Demon Souls are deliberately try to screw people over. Maybe the difficulty of Dark Souls was born from a hatred of gamers?
$90 USD? Considering Australia gets ♥♥♥♥♥♥ by many games prices, does not mean this company is trying to screw you.
I see $49.99 which is lower than CoD. Blame AUS taxes and other crap, not the dev.
Yes I am from Australia. No, it is not an actual tax (if anything; the general goods tax is 10%). It is known as the "Australia Tax" with a wink and a nod: they charge it because they can. Australia has a history of being geographically isolated and has to pay more to physically import foreign goods. It still happens in the digital age by region locking to stop us importing a game with a steam download. Is this spiteful? yes!
Apple is notorious for this and will charge 200-300% markup. Apple introduced a local arm to Australia and region locked us to use their Australian digital store (tip: prices doubled on all digital downloads). Well, I will not put up with that, and many Australian gamers don't.
While I might be breaking Hanlon's rule, I think the publisher has shown their contempt for PC gamers.
Lol. So true. I'm fine with paying 10-20% more but 80%? It's pretty stupid of people blaming Importing/Shipping and Goods tax and should learn to read directly from government resources (which are freely available) instead of stupid articles and blogs written by not-so-intelligent people. It isn't our law/tax system when it comes to digital goods pricing, a shame not many people realize that. Screw the Bandai Namco Oceanic marketing devision, it's not like they made the game. They're just another addition to the unnecessary amount of useless middle-men and I hope they become bankrupt from pirates. The good law abiding people are being abused from such ridiculous pricing schemes and I only wish no one here is stupid enough to buy at this price.
Don't forget, it's $90 USD so that's going to cost us ~$98 AUD for a digital copy! JB and EB are selling for less than that - both selling $79 for a physical copy with the same pre-order bonus. I expect steam version to be at least $5-$10 cheaper since we're not getting install discs, have to waste our internet usage, and time to download. This is total BS.
There are no taxes involved on internet purchases in Australia under $1000, it is simply price gouging via region locking .
