Is the Xanthous set any good?

I just finished the Pilgrim of Dark quests and was awarded this. The stats don't look great, but I see you need twinkling titanite to upgrade it. Just wondering why it needs twinkling over standard titanite?
Haven't tried it out much, but maybe someone knows more about it or has upgraded it.

It's light and I assume it provides high fire defense. It was in dks1 and I didn't use it much then either.

See it has decent magic, lightning and curse defense and it's light.

Whether an item needs twinkling or regular titanite has nothing to do with its quality.
Boss-related equipment and "unique" items will require twinkling titanite/petrified dragonbone.
Don't assume an item is good simply because it requires twinkling titanite.

My experience from both Dark Souls is that "normal" items upgraded to +10 with regular titanites are almost always better than unique armors upgraded with twinkling. Except when you're looking at armors with special perks like the Black Witch hat's extra spell slot, Bone King's ridiculous curse resist or Smelter's high fire def, etc...

Bit of a late post, found this thread while looking up the Xanthous set. If you still have it can I droptrade for it? Working on a Xanthous King cosbuild and Darklurker is such a pain in the ass

For 'resistances', didn't BandaiNamco freaking nerfed them to the extremes?

I remember a full +10 Alonne knight set is capable of cutting fire damage in half on it's own?

It´s a pretty bad set, it´s for looking weird and showing off that you´re badass enough to trash the Darklurker. ^^
