Any way to cap framerate at 30 FPS?
Hi;
So I, just like most PC users, have run into the programming issues flowing from the higher framerate, from unreasonably fast enemies, through insane weapon degradation all the way through broken hitboxes. Capping the framerate using Nvidia Inspector to 30 FPS solved the issues. While I prefered the way the game looked and played on 60 FPS, I think that halving the framerate is an acceptable tradeoff for not having to deal with the massive floating tank that is the Pursuer moving at twice the speed and magically scoring with his cursed instakill attack by piercing the empty air two metres away from my character.

Here's the thing though: In order to cap the framerate, I have to turn on Nvidia Inspector and re-enable the limiter every time I want to play the game, then disable it after I'm done playing. I obviously don't want to have the setting on in my other games.

Is there a way to set up a framerate limit in Dark Souls 2 only, in a way that does not affect other applications?

Thanks

In the Nvidia control panel you can force vsync to half refresh rate just for a particular game. If you have a 60hz monitor, that's all you need to do.
You can activate the frame limit for DS2 only if you want, just change its settings in NVI

In NVI, go to the profile settings. On the top there is a drop down field with game profiles, change it to DS2. After that scroll down for the frame limit and put it to 30, then hit apply on the top right.

Now the game will always run with 30 fps until you change it again. NVI doesn't need to run to activate it.

that is actually kind of exactly what I needed.
thanks a bunch.
Why they havn't fixed it?

Is there any way to do this while in windowed mode? NVI doesn't work if the game is in windowed mode

I suppose you could also use a enb to cap your framerate.

Thanks, had never used this feature before. That was way easier than I was expecting.
so are we doomed to fight high-speed bosses if we have AMD? Guess I'll have to git even more gud. I'm guessing my new card would be bad in PVP too, huh? 60+ frames at highest settings.
Is this actually still an issue? I used to play the game with Adaptive VSYNC (Half Refresh) cause I both wanted to avoid te weapon durability bug and play in 4K resolution. Two days ago I turned Adaptive VSYNC Hallf Refresh back to normal VSYNC to test how bad the game plays with that durability bug. Very much to my surprise, the game runs perfectly smooth in 4K with 60Hz and otherwise I can't tell ANY difference! I neither see a durability bug nor faster enemies nor superpowered bosses. My weapons wear out just like they did before going back to 60Hz and the 60Hz smoothness adds greatly to the wonderful atmosphere. Have From maybe fixed the bug in the meanwhile?
I assume they would have done. And if you get Scholar of the First Sin, that's supposed to be running just fine with 60fps from what I've heard.

Either way, it's been over a year. It would be a bit sad if From didn't fix it in the meantime.
durability bug was fixed a while ago, its not an issue any more.
Nah, bosses and large enemies move much faster than they should and the camera shakes and pauses on full-screen. My solution was GeDoSaTo, not VSync. I pumped it so full of beautiful graphics that it chugs along at a nice 35 FPS. perfect!

Strange. I've never experienced issues with 60 fps.
