Black Hood Requirement
The Black Hood requires 16 INT, but gives 2 extra points in INT & FTH. Can i put this on if i have 14 or 15 INT, since the hood would boost my stats?

Yea, you'll get the bonus. But put the hood on and take a look at your stats. You can see the increase to your int & faith, but you'll also notice penalties to fire/dark/lightning/etc. resistance.
I'm pretty sure you will get the bonus stats. Just check your stats to see that.
btw, since you already asked this, let me ask something else still on subject...

Some armors like the Jester, Mastodon and Chaos set have requirements to use, but what happens when you use them without having the necessary stats? I mean, you still get the bonus or whatever effect they might have like the extra cast speed from the Chaos Hood. Do we just get less defense because of that?

Just read that, if you wear armor with a required amount of points for stats, and you do not meet those requirements, specific stats will reduce. A.k.a., pretty much what Mandroid said. I just didn't understand it. x)

Now the real question is: I have 14 INT currently. When i put this on, it will boost my INT to 16. Will that make the reduction ok again?
I'm going to have to test this...

Yep, it's easy enough to test. The numbers you see on your Equipment screen as well as your Player Status screen will answer all these questions. Just check before and after you equip something. If you INT is 14, you'll have 16 when you wear the hood. You will take penalties on any armor that you don't meet the requirements for, so it's worth checking your stats to make sure it's actually worth it.

As soon as i put it on, it gave the warning of not having the required stats. There don't seem to be any downsides though, since, after it racks you up to that requirement, it cancels out the detriments of not having the required stat.
In conclusion, it is safe to use this with 14 INT or higher.

There are downsides. You will take penalties to /Magic/Fire/lighting/dark defense. Normally, the hood gives you 25/17/17/17 respective to those attributes. If you don't meet the hoods requirements, you will instead get something like -9/-9/-7/-7 or something. I'm not sure of the exact values, but they are significant. The penalties are displayed in red.

I just checked, I think I know what's missing.

Equip the hood, then hover over it on your equipment menu. Look to the right on the Equipment Status section and you'll see the bonuses that that specific item is actually granting you once it's equipped. This is where you'll see the penalties.

My build actually uses 14 INT, while wearing the Black Hood (which requires 16 INT).
I can verify that equipping the hood works, although you do get the initial message saying that you do not have the right stats.

Edit: If need be, I can post a screenshot as prove.

That is weird! BenGoesGrr's INT is 14, mine is only 3... Maybe the penalty is effected by how close you are to the requirement.. Who knows..

Well, if you count the +2 INT from the hood itself, it should end up at 16 INT total, which is the required stat for this equipment.
