The Last Giant *spoilers*
... anyone else think he is actually The Giant Lord? They seem about right in size and attack patterns and it would explain why he goes all berserk-y when he spots you (as you travelled back in time and defeated him "earlier").

Then why would he be under the fort, and more important why would he be alive at all?

1. You fight him at the fort in the past.
2. Magic? He is the most powerful Giant after all, maybe his spirit survived and generated his body in a weakened state in which he was easily captured and chained under the fort and then forgotten about as the kingdom fell.

No, Giant Lord's the tree you walk into to get into the memory. Last Giant is still moving around down below.

That makes no sense - then the tree would be HUUUUGE.

The battle takes place in "Memory of Jeigh" who is the slain Giant in the room behind the Giant Lord. The Giants whose memories you explore are all regular-sized. Well, regular-giant-sized.

Well it's interesting, and for a moment I also thought that the last giant was the giant lord because of size, but the fact that you get his soul (the giant lord's soul) after defeating him prevents me to think they're the same. Also the 2 souls you get are totally different, nothing from their description suggests they were the same giant.

Oh yeah. Didn't think of the Soul issue. Perhaps the Last Giant Soul is a partially generated Soul of the Giant Lord or something?
He is. Or the last giant is another from his royal line.

Actually... Vendrick stole something from Giants, causing them to invade, right?

What if the thing that was stolen was the young Giant Prince? That justifies the invasion of Giants, explains common battle theme, and resemblance of the two.
He had been imprisoned, tortured, and eventually forgotten...
Till Chosen finds his cell...

I think you're going a little too far now... remember he has several swords stuck on his back and there's a crumbled tower near him... he was probably fighting, then the tower fell on him burying him alive.

The Last Giant is The Lord Giant.
Many things indicate that..
He was taken down and imprisoned, he was weakened by you. And because of your he got traped.
I have a deep burning hatred towards you, which is why the Last Giant is so mad when he says you for the first time. Because he remember you. So he charges towards you.
He tear off his own arm in frustration over the fact that he is dying, he need a weapon. Thus tearing his arm off, to use it as a weapon.
He even use the same moves and the fighting style are the same.

Note: He is the only boss who charges towards you in DS2, the moment he sees your character.

Welcome to time travel-based plots :)

Its stupid, the game appears to imply that Drummond killed the giant lord.
That's why you find his corpse near the arena where you fight the giant lord, but it does not explain why you were able to get Drummonds helmet and the giant lord soul when you time travel.

Eh, isn't The Giant Lord even larger in size than The Last Giant? I don't see why they would be the one and same.
The Bees Jun 19, 2014 @ 4:02am
I thought it was all but confirmed that it's him... it.

The time travel also makes no sense, and yes, it's confirmed that the player did actually travel through time. One of the item descriptions mentions a "mysterious hero" as being the one who took down the Giant Lord.

it's not the giant lord.

It looks like "Memory of Jeigh" takes place where the pursuer boss is, if that is the case I would have thought "Memory of Jeigh" would have started in the same location and not locationed behind a king's door.

Then we have the last giant who isn't actually the last giant when there is two in gulch.
