Help be make a Black Knight Halberd build please.
On the wiki it was telling me to get:

"Extra Notes:
This is one of the most powerful weapons in the game with an extremely high base damage and fast move set, it also being a halberd. I recommend getting this weapon and getting the needed Strength/Dexterity quickly.
(45 str, 26 dex, 10 int, 40 faith) Lightning Black knight Halberd + 5 total damage is 633"

But this weapon has C scaling in strength and B scaling in dex, so why would they suggest more strength instead of dex? Makes no sense?

Also doesn't the fire scale with both faith and int? Would pumping points into one be better then both? Or would I get more use putting points into both.

Thinking I will go just plain jane +5 with this one.

Also, if I respec, can I not allocate all my points at first then allocate them later after I get a better feel and decide where I want to put them?

Thanks!

The BKH does make fire dmg, so why infuse it with lightning and not with fire?

I never mentioned infusing it with anything, and I know it already has fire damage. Or are you suggesting infusing it? I have it to +5 normal at the moment.

I use the Black Knight Greatsword in one of my builds, I use it with 30/30 in dex/str and 50 in faith and 12 in int. Infused it with fire, the result was a massive boost in fire dmg and only a little minus in physical dmg.
My guess is that it won't differ much with other BK weapons (well, different str/dex values, because of different requirements).
Str scaling in this game is overall better than dex scaling, that is why they recommend leveling up str. And the fire dmg scales with both, int and faith. you can keep both at the same level or focus on one. I made more dmg with that 12 int and 50 faith than with 31 int/faith, so I recomment leveling up one of the 2.

And the infusion was I thought of mine because you mentioned the dmg of a lightning infused BKH. I strongly recommend the fire infusion.

probably because fire scales terribly.

So you are saying that putting points into strength instead of dex is better even though it scales a lever lower than dex?

What is your total damage with it?

I used this as a boss smasher on my duel ceastus build and a few others since it can be acquired 25 minutes into the game (along with claymore)...

Strength scales better than dex in this game, so there is your answer.

Fire does not scale well. That is the inherent problem with the halberd. Yes it is great for bosses and tough mobs when you want some reach, but otherwise, the move set is not very good. Although I had killed a few invaders with it as my offhand (claymore primary).

I would recommend a 50 vig/20 end/--vit/16 ATN/40str/40dex/minINT/minFaith/ADP to 100 agil. No infusion, but fire if you have too.

If you infuse you split up the damage more and lose the bonus damage on bosses. From there focus on pyromancy

If I remember right, my fully upgraded non infused BKH was doing upwards of 600 damage with flame weapon before the nerf.

dex scaling is ♥♥♥♥ in this game. thats why

The dmg on my BKGS was about 600 per hit.

The dmg is already split, and infusing a fire weapon with fire makes about 20-30 less physical dmg and about 100 more fire dmg. So it is better to infuse weapons with already split dmg.

This then. I haven't used the BKH in at least 4 characters. It was nice, but there are just overall better choices when you add pvp into the equation.

It works in PvP as well, at least the greatsword. Haven't tried the halberd yet, not so much my weapon type. Though I loved it in DS1.

Can someone answer my question about respec points please? Is it possible to only use some and then allocate the rest after you test for a while and get a feel for your build and decide want the points?
Lorfar Jun 12, 2014 @ 7:15am
No, you have to allocate all or none. So you can allocate, test it, and then maybe reallocate with another soulvessel.

I found the DKH to be a drag in pvp. It's just predictable. Greatsword is my go to.

Shame if you want to respec, use a soul vessel. You need to allocate all your points, try the build, then use another if you don't like it.

I may be wrong but according to this http://darksouls2.wikidot.com/scaling a B scaling in Dex and a C scaling in strength have the same (or at least very close) scaling. Overall I think your best bet would be making like a 30/30 quality build.
