Heide spear
What is the best upgrade path with it? I'm very curous to use it dark, since i've had such great luck with it so far and am curious what the comunity thinks of it

It already has innate lightning so I'd just strengthen that by infusing it with lightning. (if your Faith's high enough) Otherwise you'd have to go through 3 resistences instead of 2 (physical, lightning, and dark; as opposed to physical and lightning) which can result in overall lower damage.

Heide weapons have innate lightning damage/scalling, therefore, infusing it with any other element will probably be less beneficial than just sticking to the original element. You will be further splitting the damage amongst 3 types, which means it will have to be counted against 3 resistances. This generally results in lower damage dealt compared to single or dual damage sources.

Infuse the spear with lightning, you lose very minor part (7) of physical damage and gain 44 lightning damage, which is very nice upgrade. It wil also make Sunlight blade buff more effective on the weapon.

If you're looking for a dark spear as another option check out the silverback spear, farm those Grave Warden guards in Earthen Peak. Really nice spear you might like that as well.

Lightning is the best path because it adds to the lightning damage already on it. Buffing then increases it even further by a percentage making it the best.

Also split damage means dark/lightning does less than pure lightning.

Elemental resistance doesn't work like that. It's not a flat damage reduction but it's percentage based. So it depends on the enemy's defences.

Howether, if you're going to buff it, lightning is the way to go.
