How bad was Flame Weapon nerfed?
I want to try a pyro build with the Black Knight Greatsword, and I want to see if Flame weapon is still viable.

I don't think I have the answer you are looking for... I do not PvP at all and generally do not worry about buffs either, but it would seem to me that any extra damage is viable.

It's only good because there are no stat requirements. You only need the attunement slots.

You can wreck peoples with Broken sword with no buff y'know. Go for what style you like, if you enjoy playing it you'll get gud.

I would also like to add that casters SHOULD deal less melee damage because they are built to have high spell damage. So when looking to build a caster you should not be wondering about maxing melee damage, but maxing spell damage. (I guess this is my opinion...)

Blue Flame : Sword that allow you to cast spell with it. Kinda fun to use. + Pyromancy flame +10 for the right hand. Then go for Black set with Lion mage bracers. For the rings ; Lingering Dragoncrest Ring + Clear Bluestone Ring.
I used something like that not so long ago. I had like 270+ cast speed, that allow to almost insta-cast a lot of spells.

That could work with Clerics and Sorcerers, but if you're a Pyromancer you can still efficiently use melee weapons since pyromancies don't need intelligence nor faith so.....I'm sorry bro, that won't happen.

I feel that pyromancy is fairly weak now. You'd probably be better of with a STR/FTH build and miracles. Flame weapon itself buffs your weapons nicely but there are stronger buffs.

Pyromancy is a good way to throw in more damage and some short range burst damage. Flame weapon is a flat damage buff with a % bonus damage ontop. Based used on fire weapons. But,you got other fire spells.

Free damage is free damage. Even if it's only 20 points more, it's better than what you start with. Sure it needs 1 attunement slot but at the most that's a few levels or 1 ring/armor slot. I'm not exactly sure about the duration at base faith and/or int though. I play quality/faith on PS3 and use sunlight blade.

the only viable pyro's i've seen usually have min requirments for weapons, no int/fth and slam everything into attunment trying to get as many forbidden suns as they can. It works pvp wise to punish chuggers, but it's really dependent on your weapons rather than casting. Flame weapon is pretty much for the extra damage for no stat requirments.

It was nerfed by around 40% i still use it because looks cool it allso seams to last a long time.

When you say Flame Weapon was nerfed, what do you mean?

With a high STR character with nothing in FTH and INT, nothing seems to be nerfed.
With a fire Bastart Sword, I do 433 without Fire Weapon and 577 with.
Just like pre-patch.

Was Fire Weapon scaling with FTH/INT before the patch?

'Flame Weapon' pyromancy spell dosent scale with anything you can use a unupgraded glove and it will do the same damage as haveing a +10 glove.
It was +50 damage + %30 to fire damage.
