Visible Aurous Set dropping?

So I killed the black phantom in No Man's Wharf several times today, each time I was wearing covetous gold ring +2, jester's hat, prisoner's chest and I was using the rusted coin, right now my bonfire intensity is 11 and this phantom did not drop a SINGLE piece of this set. The only thing he dropped was the bloody old knight's shield. Is this phantom bugged or I am just having a terrible bad luck? After how many runs you guys got the whole set?

Took me 20 runs for the Catarina set. It just takes some luck and some perseverence. Sorry mate.

Took me 9 runs to get 3x Armor of Aurous, 1x Gauntlets, and 1x Helm. I traded one of the Armors to get the Leggings.

It took me at least 30 Ascetics to get the whole set, and another 10+ to get the Shadow Set, where I also happened to pick up another Aurous Set in the process. Just keep trying, it may take a while, but you'll get them eventually.

Having to waste ascetics to farm armor sets or weapons is so stupid... That pisses me off.
