(SPOILER WARNING) Ancient dragon "lore"
i didnt come up with anything better for title but i noticed something weird on Ancient Dragon if you talk to him and after that put Ring Of Whispers on you can hear a voice coming from him. Not 100% sure what the voice says but it sounds like "help me, please" Anyone else noticed this ?

Haven't tried it, but wouldn't surprise me since the Ancient Dragon is not actually a dragon.
Hmm, is it the voice you normally here with Ring of Whispers or another voice? I've always thought the normal Ring of Whispers voice sounds like a demonic, distorted 'Hrrreeeelpmmmeeee"

Well its more or less "known" (as much as anything can be) hes not thus why he drops a giant soul and you find the ancient dragon soul in a memory. Aldia was creating all sorts of mutants and things and experiments with giants (thus the load of giant corpses and monsters in his mansion) and its likely this is a dragon created with the soul of a giant.

Aldia wanted to beat the curse but the only way to beat it was do what the everlasting dragon did, be out of the cycle of life and death

other than Manscorpion Tark the only thing I ever hear with that ring on including the Ancient Dragon is "I won't move"

The Ring of Whispers always made a weird sound whenever there are enemies nearby. The weird roar is like an enemy alert. (When I first put it on, I thought my character was descending into madness, but I realized its effect later =P ) Even if you killed all the others on the stairs, it might consider the dragon a potential enemy and make that noise.

That's the primary effect of the ring - to alert when there are enemies nearby. The secondary effect is letting you talk with Tark.

Well, he is killable.... So it's likely it'll 'activate' on him. I believe it does this with Tark too.

IIRC it also activates with Vengarl's head. Which is weird.

Vengarl Head, The Queen (not in Nashandra form) and the Chancellor.

The speculation around the Ancient Dragon is if it is the real Ancient Dragon or not. Killing it gives you a Giant Soul, and it is believed that Aldia was running experiments on giants, which led to the golems in Dranleic Castle and such; so with that being said, one can say the dragon you encounter is actually a creation of Aldia. What's its purpose? I'm not too sure but that's really for you to decide. From what I know, that dragon may have been created from the reminence of the actual Ancient Dragon in the lair of the Duke's Dear Frejia. You even collect its soul when you enter its memory! Furthermore, there is even a user-made covenant deticated to constantly defeating the Ancient Dragon in the name of the real one. In the end, its up to you what to believe.

by the way, I heard the words "I'm wounded" when I used the ring of whispers, but that's up for speculation aswell.

Nitpicking but Vengarls head can be killed, he drops his helm like most npcs.
