Actually, probably Nashandra has been the most difficult final boss. :D
She's just kinda really easily dodgeable. Especially the beam attack, just makes it really easy.
but to be perfectly honest, the PvE in Souls games never holds up. The only fights that have ever been consistently punishing are Kalameet and Artorias, and even those get boring once you learn their patterns. (They just have MORE attacks and hit TONS harder than the other bosses)
I'm on NG+7 and LGK absolutely kicks his ♥♥♥♥ in, its just sad.
Last Sinner is harder.
Royal Rat authority is far harder. Due to mobs though.
First time I just chucked Great Lightning spears on her with 2 others and she was dead.
As for hardest Souls boss. Four Kings on NG+ takes that price.
My bad, I meant hardest final boss, agreed on what you said.
Four Kings on NG+ is still cheesable though, only on later NGs does it become impossible to kill them before another spawn
As for DS2, I found Smelter Demon laughably easy. Just like the Giants he is so easy to dodge that you should never get hit. Only the permanent DoT makes it somewhat hard, but life gems or mushrooms deal with that.
Last Sinner is hard in NG+ and without a shield, but can be blocked easily. Royal Rat authority is decided in the first few seconds; once you get under it, you won.
I would agree that Nashandra is one of the hardest bosses (at least among the solo bosses. All multi-bosses are obviously harder), because her lingering curse-DoT is just insane.
Ornstein and Smough, even on NG+7, is formulaic. Difficult, but definitely doable if you're patient.
Four Kings is just........ hell
Can't comment on Maneaters, no PS3.
Ornstein and Smough ain't in the top for me because I can at least avoid their hits. Four Kings is just about a DPS race and on NG+ it gets hard.
This
Four kings melee attacks are easy to dodge, but you cant fully block them, and if more than 1 decides to attack you its just a barrage of attacks
Not to mention the magic projectile with full tracking that lasts 15s, ffs. You HAVE to block it and take the damage, or run in circles for 15s.
Or a King can just spam the practically undodgable grab....
Four Kings is just a hell of a rough bossfight. It and New Londo in general are my most hated part of Dark Souls, even over Izalith.
That being said, I find them very doable. Only on SL1 it was hell. Ended up using Solaire for phase 1, killing Ornstein and then cheesing Super Smough with a crossbow...
Stuff like this only effects your first try though.
Like Throne Watcher/Defender, anyone smart focused one down, figured out they can heal up to full when left alone, and never tried that tactic again.
SL1 runs, forget that. I get it that some people like it, but for me the fun in games like this is all teh different equipment, magic, etc. Theres just SO MUCH TO DO, I hate having to limit myself. I did a SL1 run and stopped after gargoyles, it just wasn't any fun. Challenging, hell yes. Fun, no. (Personal opinion)
