What the fog?!? Can't enter boss fog gate.... Help

I can't enter the fog gate to fight the Lost Sinner.

When I press to enter the fog gate, my character simply performs some weird "walking" animation for a few seconds and then stops...

What is causing this?

This is exactly what happens when you have someone too close to you when you try to perform animations like opening chests, entering fog gates, closing doors, etc....

I summoned Lucatiel but she's far away...far enough for me to guarantee she's not interrupting my walking-in animation.

What can I do to fix this?

Have you tried restarting the game?
Of course you'll have to resummon lucatiel if you do

Yep, this happened to me, but with a different Fog Gate. Thankfully it was only a passage to another area. It was fine after I restarted.

The most annoying part is that I'm on a no-bonfire no-death run...

I'll have to go all the way from Majula again.

That's the first time this bug has happened... oh ... I sure hope this is the last as well..

If you save and quit you'll reload where you left off, no need to go back from majula unless you die.

I want to do Lucatiel's quest line. If I don't use her against Lost Sinner, I'll have to fight Smelter Demon.... I prefer not to take optional bosses until Nashandra is dead.
