If you want to arbitrarily self-limit, it is fine to do so, but there is no practical reason to stop. Again, stop if you want to.
Pretty much this.
The game leveling have soft and hard caps so is not like you get invincible..
I think you should level up the amount you think is ok for you.. Just don't use the op stuff that is unbalanced like avelyns/scantier/m.scimitar/dual halberds.
People who think everyone is a tank after lvl 150 don't really play pvp.
A lvl 150 can take like 1~2 hits on duels.
A lvl 350 can take like 2~3 hits so is not like you get that huge hp when going pass 150..
In all SM tiers you will run into dudes that are abusing the game mechanics so there is no point in staying stuck into as SM range or SL.
But if you don't go above 150, you will eventually get invaded by SL +800 players.
Actually, according to the level charts, 150 is the most used level (200+ is higher because it counts ALL of the levels above 200)
I stuck to 150, as it's fair and doesnt turn you into a boring tank :P
As someone who dies in 2 hits, fighting people who die in 10 hits is not fun. I've played enough PvP to know the difference :v
I find it more stupid being a boring high levelled character that can just use everything with no drawbacks. Where's the risk and fun of that?
Unless a guy is using full Havel/smelter helmet you don't hit him like 10 times..
Most of my Pvp fights are fast paced..Strong magic or buffed weapons..
The tools can be op but the char is never invincible..
I'm not a tank and don't even use a strong shield..
My shield only blocks dark for GRS..
Unless I'm smart I can go down very fast...
A small subset of players in Dark Souls 1 decided that their way of playing was the only "honourable" one and everyone not adherring to their rules are tryhards, scrubs and/or noobs. These players keep trying to force every body to play their way in Dark Souls 2. They can be safely ignored.
Just shows how different both communities are.
Yes: Stop levelling.
No: Keep levelling.
As long as the game is choosing you match-ups based off a combination of your soul-memory and playthrough, their is absolutely no downside to continue levelling. You won't see strangers appreciating your unseen, self-imposed honour measures. Diminishing returns on stats will further only make it more difficult for them to tell the difference.
