Boss Souls? Are they worth keeping?

I've checked out some of the boss soul weapons and to be honest they don't really seem to be that good.

Is there any reason to keep them or just add a bit more to the sole count?

(At the moment I'm about to complete NG, so maybe there's something I've missed?)

I saved the ones I didn't use so I can pop them in NG+ and NG++ to get through the shrine of winter faster.

I used them to get the weapons then after I got all the weapons I just used them to get souls. Also you get new souls off the 4 lord souls holders in NG+.

After I beat my first playthough, I just free roamed around before starting NG+ at the Majula bonfire. Part of what I did was defeating all the other bosses I missed and seeing what kind of weapons you can make with their souls.

Some had good weapons once upgraded like the Smelter Demon's sword, others not so much like the Baneful Queen. You just need to decide for yourself which weapons suit your playstyle and ugrade the weapon to keep it relevant.

Many of the weapons suck, some are good. It's worth keeping them the first time through since you don't really need the extra levels given by the boss souls. It's mainly about upgrading your weapons, not leveling.

Before you start NG+ you might as well pop them if you don't want the weapon they make and don't care about the Shrine of Winter.
