Dark Souls 2 Story stole from Majora's Mask
Just look at the bosses (Great Souls)

play Guardian Fight (Majora's Mask Soundtrack) while fighting the Great Soul Bosses and tell me you don't feel anything from it

Literally i was just joking because i seen similar posts

then i thought about it more because the boss fights were similar to the ones in Majoras Mask

Majora's Mask and Dark Souls 2 is similar in ways like that you need to go kill the 4 Great Souls/4 Bosses in each area to get to the last/true boss (You don't NEED to kill them but it won't be easy trying to get to the end without doing so)

by going back in time you lose all of your progress/money which is almost like dying and losing all of your souls (Which is Exp/Money)

either way Dark Souls 2 is just a filler to Dark Souls 3 so you guys don't act like Ds2 is like the best original game

We were not, but you keep claiming similarities where there are none, what you list is not a Majora's thing, is more like a "generic" thing, not original, but not actually from a game in particular.
A filler? well, not sure what are you talking about there, DS2 is not considered by many to be at the same level as DS1 and therefore DS3, is that what you mean?

how is it generic if Majora's Mask was out in 2000 when Dark Souls 2 was out in 2014?

Excited for DS3 though, Apparently it has the feels of DS1& gameplay mechanics from bloodborne

for the simple reason that somethign before amjora's use dthe same thing

if you were to go back in time you'll find a lot of things to already be used
which is the problem when you want to compare things ( honestly you should never bother to compare cause everything nowadays will by default be a rippoff of something else )

being innovative is really hard since so much has already been done

ds and dmc ( both focus on hack and slash - dmc is more forgivving but the type is in essence the same and dmc was first )

does that make ds a ripoff from dmc as well

and dmc stole form something else if you would do some reasearch

if something proves succesfull it will be reused by others for the simple fact that it is succesfull

fragments of MM were succesfull cause they were inspired directly by OOT ( which is still one of the best titles nintendo ever created )

so by logic other games will look at that and learn from it ( would be stupid not to )

simple example

take minecraft ( which launched the indie market pretty much all by itself ) - a voxel based world with no real purposse other then creativity
this has been copied mannhy times at this point ( take trove which is pretty recent )

but what is minecraft

creators themselve stated it was a direct copy and improvement on infiniminer ( a lot less famours )

combined with the succes of the commercail legofranchise ( for buildign purposes )

you get a mastertitle taking over the world

yet is it futile to compare al these games to one anothern, cause you simply can't

I fail to see how generic Majora's Mask boss fights were compared to the list of games you've gave but i'm not a video game expert so

I fail to see how generic Majora's Mask boss fights were compared to the list of games you've gave but i'm not a video game expert so

it's a general point i was making

i could have made it clearer though ( my bad :p )

point is

any game will be stealing form another game before it, because it's pretty much impossible to not do so ( it would be stupid not to do so )

things proven succesfull in other games will be reused because they are proven succesfull

-------------------

the simple fact that you wish to compare ds to MM is pointless in itself, by that logic you could compare ds to dmc or to the darksiders series as well ( any game that has to fight bosses bigger then yourself really )

that is what people ment by the word generic
the concept of fighting bosses and exploring is a generic thing, any game within that sector will be all alike

the only difference a company can make is by story and immersion ( some will be crap others will be genius ), that's how something can be at least a bit original in it's own way

the zelda series has a steady storytelling that constantly repeats itself and is representative to that series

while ds has a story written in the shades of itemsdescriptions and vague remarks made by people ( all coverd in a bit of sarcasm and mockery towards the player ) - which is own to the ds series

story form zelda would not fit in ds and neither would the story from ds fit in zelda

that's how they are divided and unique - gameplay is in gneeric ways the same and thus irrelevant to compare

---

generic listings :

go forth, kill all you see, then ask questions ( any fps - aka MOH, COD, FarCRY etc etc )

explore and kill bosses ( any adventure game - aka ZELDAseries DSseries, technically minecraft as well, etc etc )

press button to win , the faster the better ( any hack 'n slash - aka DmC, DSseries ( jep it stole form both ), Darksiders, etc etc )

combo's are approved, if not enforced ( arcade styles - aka Tekken, Killer instinct, etc etc )

and so on..

when you make a game you will have to chose which generic listing you want to follow and then from what you want to learn to make your own game :)

( and yes these listings are obviously oversimplified - it's just to give a general idea about it :p )

new and fresh ideas are hard to come by these days :)

and i wouldn't concider it a filler
like the other guy said, they tried to make it in it's own way but couldn't get on par with the first one

making a sequel is about the hardest thing you can do, cause people have expectations now.

If you do the exact same they will be happy about the same ( cause it was good before ) but they will also cry about the lack of innovation

if you innovate, in other words, divert from the original, they will be happy that there is innovation but they will be upset that it is not as much the same as the original

sequels are pretty much always a loss for developpers when it comes to appreciation....

for example, people cried about the long time it took to use fasttravel in 1, and now it is the exact oposite yet it still isn't good enough for the same ones :) )

so maybe in 3 you will get it from the start but at a cost ???? ( and i bet it won't be good then either )

on a wild unrelated side note :

you know MM ( that's points for you ^^ )
if you would have mentioned OOT i would have even given more points :p

nonsensical elevators (going up to get to Iron Keep please)

Before now I have never thought twice about the elevator that goes up to the lava filled fortress, how much more have I not noticed?

Tfw instead of thinking more about it and rather much look for ways to insult
Youre not on imgur, nobody cares what faces you want to make.

The game isnt even remotely similar. A single giant bird does not mean the game is copying majora's mask. That giant bird in DS2 doesnt talk to you, it literally drops a Persuer on you, then drops you into a new zone later. That bird wouldnt exist except for the fact that the developers wanted to connect those 2 areas together without actually connecting them. Between that and nonsensical elevators (going up to get to Iron Keep please) no part of the world is well connected which is why that bird even exists.

In Zelda it talks your ear off about tutorials and your quest.

There's no similarities. None that are significant. They're totally different games in totally different settings. Just because there's a "dark" atmosphere doesn't mean it's the same. What next? You gonna tell us that it steals using a magic sword from Majora's Mask and that's how they're similar?

BOTH GAMES HAVE HUMAN BEINGS GUYS AND EVERYONE BREATHES OXYGEN OMG IT'S A CROSSOVER RIP-OFF GAME AND THEYRE STEALING FROM NINTENDERP

MC connects to previously unknown world in search of something, (MC in Ds2 has his humanity taken away and is cursed to stay alive, Link in MM is searching for his friend but an encounter has his humanity taken away and cursed; sometime after he is given the option to return to his former self) later is given advice on how to find that something, you search the lands in search of the great souls (Masks) and defeat the bosses who hold them; you don't have to do so but it makes the game much easier to progress

seriously though if you guys haven't played majoras mask and actually beat the game to see the similarities between dark souls 2 plot and majoras mask plot then why speak negatively?

either way like i've said before it was more or less a joke but if you've played it you would know what i'm talking about how similar it is

instead of seeing nothing and attempting not to see anything and just saying theres nothing there, why not try looking for similarities.

You completely twisted what I said.
Doc Vivor 20 AGO 2015 a las 1:44 a. m.
Uhm you need to beat the four bosses or else you wont free the Giants that stop the moon from crashing the masks are simply there. Also the reason for killing for bosses in ds is that they are the reeincarnations from the lord's of the first game (except the four kings because they got their lord soul from Gwyn)
The Curse in Ds is also much different than getting transformed into a tree, fish or whatever a goron is, simply saying both got cursed is a ripoff is a lie.
AlucarD 20 AGO 2015 a las 7:55 a. m.
mhm nope not really, I would say its more in the veins of the Berserk lore and thats funny because Berserk borrows from Lord of Rings, Flesh+Blood and even Hellraiser. I would say maybe it has some elements from the 3D Zelda games but not close enough, lol I always considered Dark Souls like the more mature and darker version of Zelda :))))
