Secret of the WatchDragon Parma + Funny Glitch
Ok, so I dunno if this is old news or if I've actually discovered something, but after farming in Aldia's Keep, I found that the WatchDragon Parma basically reversed the discovery rate of item drops from the Dragon Acolytes.

Some math to prove it.
Items
30 Petrified Dragon Bones/41 = 73%
7 Elizibeth Mushrooms/41 = 17%
1 of each armor drop/41 = 7%
1 Aldia hammer/41 = 2%

Note that I am in regular NG, and when using the gold serpent ring, the results seemed reversed, even when also using the WatchDragon Parma (Possible override?) and in the covenant of champions. I plan to test this on some other mob that has a rare item and a bunch of common items and see the results are consistent (Can't think of a specific one of the top of my head, I'll post it in my results.) I wonder if this is also evident in the Scholar of the First Sin edition, if anyone has time, it would be great if they could test it in that game too.

And on to the funny glitch: When farming these 30 Petrified Dragon Bones, sometimes after doing a riposte on the Acolytes using the great scythe, when they died they would still be in the sitting position when you parry them. It didn't happen often, only 6 times total and I have no idea what causes it.

If you need more evidence that this isn't just a picture of right after a parry, I have a few videos I could link showing this.

Does anyone else find this stuff interesting? Feel free to leave a message!

So you're saying that if you didn't have the shield equipped you'd be getting 2% petrified Dbones and 73% Aldia hammers?
JamieDaNerdKing 2015 年 8 月 26 日 下午 1:01
Actually, I only had the Covetus Gold serpent ring on and was getting those odds where it was actually 73% chance of getting the Aldia's Hammer, Bone shield, or an armor drop together (Sorry about the misleading numbers, my bad :/)
So a new breakdown of the numbers without the watchdragon parma

Hammer/Sheild/Piece of armor(3 Possible) = 73%
Elizibeth Mushroom = 17% ?
Dragon Bone = 10% (although it felt like 2%)

And yeah, with the serpent ring on regardless of whether I had the WatchDragon Parma in my left hand or not, I was still only getting dragon bones only about this 10% of the time, signalling a potential override from the serpent ring. I wasn't using any other gear at the time either, so nothing else would interfere.

As I said, I need to do more testing to confirm this, but if this is true, this would help with farming runs so much, especially since Dragon Bones are so hard to come across normally, and for any other extremely rare items, especially if I could find some gear that stacks the chance of finding the items, then farming rare items will be a breeze :)

Ok, so my second set of testing took place in the Undead Crypt farming the Ledya Witches (The ones who drop one of the best staffs in the game). I farmed the witches 25 times with the WatchDragon Parma equiped, and another 25 with only the gold serpent ring and the results are quite interesting:

Items found with WatchDragon Parma:
2 Simpleton's Spice/25 = 8%
1 Skeptic's Spice/25 = 4%
8 Awestones/25 = 32%
2 Black Witch's Staff's/25 = 8%
3 Ledya Black Hoods/25 = 12%
3 Ledya Black Robes/25 = 12%
2 Dark Quarts rings(+2)/25 = 8%
5 Magic Stones/25 = 20%

Now look at the next list

Items found with Gold Serpent Ring:
4 Simpleton's Spice/25 = 16% (Double the amount compared to using the Watchdragon Parma)
2 Skeptic's Spice/25 = 8% (Also Double the amount compared to using the Watchdragon Parma)
10 Awestones/25 = 40% (Not really much change at all)
1 Black Witch Staff/25 = 4% (Half the amount compared to using the Watchdragon Parma)
8 Magic Stones/25 = 32% ( A 12% increase compared to using the Watchdragon Parma)

In the second sett of testing, I didn't receive a single piece of the Black Witch's Armor or any rings, I also doubled the amount of spices obtained in the second batch of testing.

These results make my theory that the Watchdragon Parma increases the chances of obtaining rare items seem plausable, but I need one last batch of testing to confirm it, perhaps on the Archdrakes in the Shrine of Amana, I really need some twinkling titanite, if you guys have any better suggestions, give me a shout!

At last, my final test is complete, the results of whether the WatchDragon Parma actually increases the chance to find rare items will finally be revealed after farming the Archdrakes in the Shrine of Amana (I only farmed the hammer wielding ones, otherwise data would be incorrect)

Testing on the ArchDrakes in Shrine of Amana:
WatchDragom Parma:
6 Old Radiant Lifegems/25 = 24%
1 Slumbering Dragon Shield/25 = 4%
2 Archdrake Helms/25 = 8%
2 Archdrake Robes/25 = 8%
1 Archdrake Gloves/25 = 4%
2 Archdrake Boots/25 = 8%
Total Armor = 28%
11 Twinkling Titanite/25 = 44%

Gold Serpent Ring:
10 Old Radiant Lifegems/25 = 40%
2 Archdrake Hammers/25 = 8%
1 Slumbering Dragon Shield/25 = 4%
2 Archdrake Gloves/25 = 8%
1 Archdrake Boots/25 = 4%
Total Armor = 12%
9 Twinkling Titanite/25 = 36%

Well... I'm not sure what's going on here. it appears that the Gold Serpent ring got just as good results as the Watchdragon Parma (I cound Old Radiant Lifegems as good items), so what does this mean. I guess that in reality, all of the archdrake's drops are actuall pretty common, so regardless of what tool you choose.

So in summary, I believe that this is enough evidence to suggest that the WatchDragon Parma does indeed increase the chance to get rare items, so whenever you want a rare item rather than lots of items, then use the WatchDragon Parma.
